Marais is one of the city's oldest areas with parts of the neighborhood dating back to the 12th century. The historic buildings and narrow streets have been preserved, or overlooked, as the rest of Paris raced into the 21st century. Le Marais takes up part of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements on the right bank of the Seine River and can be reached from the Bastille metro stop.

Saint-Germain-des-Pres in the 6th arrondissement is packed with sites, quintessential Parisian scenes, plenty of accommodation options and it is perfectly located to reach many of the other interesting areas of Paris. The neighborhood runs along the left bank of the Seine with the Jardin du Luxembourg to its south, Latin Quarter in the east and Eiffel Tower to its west.

Avignon is a city in south central France in the region of Provence in the department of Vaucluse. Avignon's greatest claim to fame is as the "City of Popes", when the Popes abandoned Rome in the 14th century and sought more ethical surroundings they made Avignon their capital and built Le Palais des Papes, the world's largest Gothic edifice. Today the cavernous rooms stand empty but visitors can see the frescos in several rooms and admire the stunning architecture.

Unlike other Paris districts which had their highs and lows, the Latin Quarter has attracted visitors, scholars, students and travelers from all over the world for decades. Its distinctive historical atmosphere, its narrow streets, leaning houses, hidden gardens and courtyards combined with its vibrant everyday life account for the Latin Quarter mythical fame.

The Beaujolais area of Northeast France stretches across the departments of Rhone and Saone-et-Loire,  north of Lyon and south of Burgundy. The countryside of Beaujolais is a vibrant green with woods, open meadows, farm land, Douglas fir trees imported from Canada, the Tarare Mountains and of course miles of vineyards. Scattered across the rich rural land are historic medieval villages and chateaux. Beaujolais Nouveau is a popular wine to come out of this area, bottled and released in the weeks following harvesting.
