TL;DR Don’t bother with the Sapporo Snow Festival when you’re just a 30-minute train ride from Otaru. And once you’re there, enjoy the best hamburger steak you’ve ever had at Muse.  Some of my favorite parts of Japan are a short train ride away from major…

TL;DR.  It would be sacrilegious to visit Lyon and not make a pilgrimage to chocolate maker and chocolatier, Bernachon. In the two days I spent in Lyon, I was pretty disappointed with […]

All day I dream about...maps! I wish they used the Street View API, but I love this implementation nonetheless. A virtual gay pride to advocate for LGBT rights in Russia.

The traboules of Croix-Rousse in Lyon

Croix Rousse used to be the silk manufacturing center for Europe and littered throughout the neighborhood are hundreds of traboules, or secret passageways that the merchants used to transport goods. The traboules […]

In a bout of insomnia, I came across this article on FastCo about a new app for kids, The Human Body. The design of the app immediately reminded me of my childhood pop-up books and The Magic School Bus, but I loved the talking points on how the app is built.

The development team worked with an children's book illustrator to bring the offline medium of a children's book to life in an iOS app.  I love their approach to bringing together an interdisciplinary team of artists and developers, and the mediums of online and offline together in a beautiful and educational experience.
