TEDxLuxembourgCity - Xavier Buck - Failure of the Content Industry to Reinvent Itself

Sergio da Silva: +Xavier Buck : I really liked how you quoted the experience of faking an IP address and eventually getting to pay for some content that is restricted by some geo IP fence ... never happened to anyone. Besides that, SaaS is a model to watch closely and it seems to me that such models are surfacing even here in Luxembourg : take for instance the VOD model of P&T Luxembourg or other software services for which users pay some recurring fees. One of the real issues related to content distribution, besides disruptive distribution models, seems to be the issue of royalties collection and distribution which in Europe still is not governed under one same set of common rules and principles.
John McCormac: The same arguments about movie rights were being made over 20 years ago when satellite tv piracy in Europe was at its height. It is sad that they haven't managed to figure out an equitable solution to the problem yet.
Raoul Thill: I really like this speech, especially the part of rights and willingness to pay for content which <del>seems</del> is impossible here in Luxembourg.
