On my last trip to Iceland I was given the new 100mp XF system from Phase One. I hate you Drew Altdoerffer, why did you have to show me what 100mp of CMOS could do. I only had the camera for a couple of hours and didn't put in on a tripod once! I forgot what high iso capability was all about. Now I need to upgrade because I'm sure Peter Eastway will be and I can't let him get away with that! Team Digital will be holding a launch very soon for the new system. Dates to be announced shortly.

I have been given the Phase One Instagram account for a week starting today, well later today if you are on Denmark time. It is an honour to be given the opportunity. Thanks to all at Phase One for the chance. I hope to post up some new interesting images. Get on over to @phaseonephoto to check it out.

I have some pretty beautiful aerial images that I shot on a recent job for RM Williams. 38 hours flying across the country throws up lots of opportunities. It is a pretty amazing country we live in. So I will show more when I get the go ahead from the client. Images shot will be for their new catalogues etc. Was a fun job.

That's such an interesting story John, you would be known as a trail blazer if you had access to those images.  Thank you for the good wishes John.

Whilst the majority of us are worried about our APPA scores, maybe we should focus that worry on the future of this planet. This is an image I shot of the Leigh Creek coal mine. It is about to be shut down.
In the mean time our government with Greg Hunt the minister for the coal industry, I mean environment has approved the largest coal mine the world has ever seen. It is good to see Turnbull has stepped up and fit perfectly into Abbotts shoes.
You bunch of WANKERS
Share this photo where ever you can, tell your friends, tell your politicians, it just isn't good enough.
Coal is not good for humanity!!!!

celand is incredible. If you took out all the tourists it would be even better than incredible. This aerial photo was not taken from a plane or a helicopter but from the edge of a cliff face. Crazy stuff. Down there are the tourist clogging up our shots. I think every photographer in the world is here. We went up a real sketchy track to get this view. The best thing is we had it to ourselves.

I am in need of some inspiration. Has been a very slow few months on the creative side of life! Something needs to work sooner or later. Maybe photography isn't enough any more?
Maybe I need to go the opposite direction to how I see photography at the moment. Show a side of life that isn't pretty, that isn't fake. I have been known to layer the cheese pretty thick. Maybe it needs to be lactos free for a while. Who knows! There has to be a shift because photography has become very boring and predictable.

This is however not the skill that makes you failing.
Same feeling for me, without your talent! Maybe I would end up to find a way...maybe ! Nothing is certain .

Hi all

Phase One has just announced a new PODAS Workshop (Phase One Digital Art Series). I will be co-instructing with Tony Hewitt, Peter Eastway, Bruce Pottinger, and Drew Altdoerffer. This will be my fourth PODAS and I really look forward to them. Everything is done for you, you get an amazing Phase One kit to use just for yourself and they are always great value for what you get. This year it is in Kununurra in the Kimberley region of WA. We will be shooting lots and have two hell flights thrown in for unbelievable aerials. We will be flying over the Ragged Range, now that is one of Australias best kept secrets. So looking forward to this trip. Sign up and let us do the rest.
Dates: 23rd to the 29th of May 2016 Instructors: Christian Fletcher, Peter Eastway, Tony Hewitt

Check it out if you are needing the know how to make your images sing. Forgot to mention I was awarded a Gold, a Silver with Distinction and a Silver at the APPA's. Pretty happy with that.

Wouldn't it be great if our actions were the equivalent of taking all the cars off the roads in the south west.

Last night was the beginning of something fantastic for the environment. About 80 locals gathered at Artezen Cafe to discuss the possibility of getting Dunsborough and the surrounding areas on to 100% renewable energy.

There was some great conversation, networking and ideas for different ways to achieve our goals. From wind farms to solar farms, tidal to Pyrolysis. There was even discussions about geothermal.

It was incredible how many people came up to me with their list of skills that could help with the projects we are about to undertake. There are finance people, lawyers, environmental scientists, engineers, project managers and others who can help with organisation and logistics.

The next meeting will be announced very soon. From there we will need to start a more structured approach and record all the conversations that were happening within smaller groups and the group as a whole. We might need more space!!! It was pretty full last night.

My brother Michael is a filmmaker and will document our journey which started last night and will finish when we have achieved our goals. I think i surprised him with that job last night so he couldn't say no. It would be unbelievable if at the end of all this we could sit down and watch the process unfold on film. It could be a documentary that could inspire other communities to take on the same challenge we have.

So it is just the beginning, we have a long road ahead. We must all share the load if it is to be successful. Remember this is for the future of our kids. We have to act, we can't leave it up to anyone else to do it for us. Together we will be making history! queue stirring music and other Hollywood clichés

Talk to all of your friends about what we want to do, not everyone is on Facebook. Get them to join this group, we need to have the whole community behind this. Share the posts, encourage your family, ask your work colleagues why they aren't involved. Learn all you can about the process, one really good resource is www.embark.com.au check it out.

This scene was right out the front of our accommodation for the last three nights. It is pretty hard not to get good shots in Iceland. Well that is assuming you think this is a good shot!!
