The US can't find anyone to go to the prom with in Syria or Iraq. Here's my almost-1800 words explaining why.

Not only to I love the #KoryTeller  program, of parents and teachers reading to +Kory Graham's Kindergarten class in Minnesota, I love the purely awesome lengths that some of the adults go to, to make it such a great experience.

This is +David E Garcia reading, and making time to take one on one with one of the student. Truly special.

I really love this post by +David E Garcia - it hits on challenges I see in educations, that really would benefit from cultural change, and from borrowing from some of the culture (and professionalism) of the military. Great words, David - very well said.

An idea for a Coffee & PD GHO: How do we grow and develop administrators / principals in coaching and mentoring?

I'd like to see about having LTC Ray Kimball, of the United States Military Academy's Center for the Advancement of Leader Development and Organizational Learning (CALDOL) be a part of another session, heavy with principals/admins and future principals/admins, to talk about the process through which teachers (and others) become the most senior leaders in our schools and K-12 education system, and what is and what can be done to prepare them for creating climates conducive to fostering mentoring and coaching.

Why Ray? Because 1) of his work at CALDOL, 2) his current research into mentoring in support of his PhD, and 3) writing he's done like this http://bit.ly/1EFPqB3  Eric Turner and I see this as the kind of topic that falls squarely into the #Mil2Ed  category that is so near and dear to us both, as career military leaders now involved in education and education reform.

I am asking your thoughts on this, and for feedback.

1) is this an appropriate topic for an off the record, not-recorded GHO discussion?

2) if you could assemble a dream team of any size to be a part of this, who could and would be included?

3) What are you doing on 6 March? If not the 6th, how's your 13th looking?

This is a fantastic blog post about education, for so many reasons.

I'm putting together a GHO for Tuesday, +David E Garcia , @ 8pm EST to talk about armymagazine.org/2015/01/13/it-… + ed w/the author & others. Game?

I've started a conversation on Edutopia about changing and shielding the junior years for teachers. I wonder where the conversation will go...

I'm still writing about education. Here's another in my #Educationalist Paper series, this time about professional development. It's also pending on Medium, if you're into that kind of thing too.

“We’ve based to a great extent a lot of what we have done on what the servicemembers preferred.”

They want to eliminate the pension, for the TSP we all currently also enjoy now. Not sure why they think anyone in the service would prefer this.
