What you see on the way home from work. - remarkableimagery http://ow.ly/J38qO
I caught the sun breaking through low clouds across the lake, lighting up the remote station property at Halfway Bay. The valley runs deep into the wilderness of the Eyre Mountains where there are no roads or habitation.

Trying for the drama of old renaissance religious artworks - full of judgement and redemption. - remarkableimagery http://ow.ly/Ioz9Q
All of my shoots are somehow about nature, the environment and man's relationship with it. I love shooting landscapes but i'm working on some images that have a stronger message and more layers of meaning than just the photograph. I'm inspired by those old engraved title plates in early books and by some of those apocryphal medieval religious paintings of judgement and redemption.

I'm trying new things with a series on the coasts of the South Island - remarkableimagery http://ow.ly/Hxo6y
From my travels of the South Island Coast series. A recent whirlwind tour up the West Coast and down the East Coasts of the South Island provided opportunities for some early morning creativity. I have been a bit stuck lately, feeling that my work isn't developing, so here's a new approach, adding layers of imagery and meaning to the photo. I'd love to hear your feedback.

The problem of wilding pines - remarkableimagery http://ow.ly/JZ2oD
The red foliage of this his dying pine catches my eye whenever I drive into town. Pines are a problem throughout the Wakatipu, where they spread across the landscape, making it too acidic for native species. This is certainly not the last of them, but poisoning and logging is reducing their numbers.

It's the clouds that make it. - remarkableimagery http://ow.ly/ITNEH
The Lakes District of New Zealand's South Island may be home to spectacular mountain ranges, valleys and watercourses, but it's the ever-changing play of clouds and light that creates the drama and mood. This is looking from Windy point lookout along the lower slopes of the Remarkables Range out toward Jack's Point and beyond to Lake Wakatipu and the Eyre Mountains.

Figure in the Landscape - remarkableimagery http://ow.ly/IwreU
I was excited with the result of this shoot in a nearby stream. The idea of blood soaked hands as a metaphor for the damage we're doing to the world. It's taken almost two weeks to come up with a treatment I feel works. I'm inspired by people like Albrecht Altdorfer, an early renaissance painter credited with being among the first to paint landscapes. He paints man as a lone figure engulfed by nature. Altdorfer's most famous painting is the "Batt...
