I tried to not share this today. I don’t have anything in mind. No examples pop into my head…

verses 2-4 say:
2 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord.
3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord.

Woe be to those who destroy and scatter the sheep of His pasture!

What does that mean? Not only woe to those who but woe to the pastors who destroy and scatter the sheep.

Pastors who destroy and scatter sheep are not true pastors! Thats not to say that they didn’t or don’t have a call. but the Pastor that God puts in a pasture guards it zealously, That pastor watches for the sheep of the pasture.

A pastor is not called to upbraid the flock.
The term pastor is defined in a couple ways that apply:
• a minister or priest in charge of a church.
• a person having spiritual care of a number of persons.

A shepherd is a person whose job is to look after sheep.

I have often heard that the pastor is the shepherd, but I disagree, the shepherd directs the flock, the pastor is to care for the flock.

See a pastor that scatters the flock is no different than a wolf that scatters the flock so that the lambs can be easily picked off. The pastor is the sheepdog if you will, following the direction of the shepherd in guiding, protecting, and guarding the flock.

There are two kinds of sheep dogs, there are heard dogs and guard dogs. Some pastors are headers they are born to move the flock in one direction or another, to keep the flock away from certain areas and in others. Then there are the guards the pastors that are born to fit in with the sheep, to be part of the flock as much as anything, they resemble the sheep, they smell a lot like sheep because they live with the sheep, they grow up among the flock, the flock is not afraid of the guardian sheep dogs, the flock doesn’t feel any trepidation about the guard dogs, they continue on and follow the shepherd and do they thing, but the guard dog always watches. The guardian sheep dog is always aware of what is out there, its always sniffing the air, its always listening, it is obedient to the shepherd, bt its focus is not the shepherd its focus is not the sheep but what is outside of the flock. You can’t have a guardian sheep dog and and a herding sheep dog. The guardian sees the herding sheep dog as a predator and will deal with it accordingly.

Now a pastor that destroys and scatters the sheep is feral!
That pastor is not it to be a pastor! That Pastor causes harm to the flock and to the kingdom of heaven.

The sheep dog is not fed in the pasture, neither type is, The guardian nor the herder. They both must have sustenance that comes from the shepherd! The sheep dog, the pastor must be fed directly from the shepherd in order that they learn that they must depend on the shepherd for sustenance. The sheep get sustenance from the pasture where there are led. The Pastor gets sustenance from the shepherd, not form the sheep. They may get milk from the sheep, but they do not get it directly from the sheep. They, the sheep dogs, may eat meat from a sheep, but they do not get it directly from the sheep. They get their sustenance from the shepherd.

A pastor that depends on the flock for sustenance will destroy and scatter the flock! If a sheep dog killed a lamb to eat whenever it was hungry, it is no different than the predators that are out to destroy the flock. The sheep could not trust that sheep dog and wild fear it and run from it. The flock would be destroyed.

A pastor must depend on sustenance from the hand of the master. Only then can the pastor truly guide and or protect the sheep. Only then can the sheep dog do its job.

See any pastor that destroys and scatters the flock will be eliminated by the shepherd. The shepherd cannot allow his flock to be ravaged by an out of control sheep dog, and God will not allow his children to be destroyed by an out of control pastor.

Yes, pastors are Gods children too, and God will reconcile them and, given they repent, forgive them, and retrain them, and reestablish them, but God will not allow a pastor that destroys and scatters to maintain the anointing of his calling.

I don’t have anyone in mind. I don’t have any examples, I am not thinking of any particular church, pastor, or organization. It is simply the word of the Lord.

Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!

God help me not to be one of those who destroys and scatters but t be one that builds up and draws together.

How do we build up, how do we draw?

John 12:32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.

We must lift Him up. We must lift His name so that all will be drawn to him. See if we are lifting him, that means we are focused on Him, on doing what He says, going where he desires, saying what He directs. A pastor that is 100% focused on Him will draw the flock to Him.

We can not focus on both the flock and the shepherd. We must focus on the shepherd. we care for the flock we provide care we triage we bandage we make sure the weak get to the food and water we make sure the shepherd is aware of the injured and if one is lost we don’t go out to find that lost one ourself, we make sure the shepherd knows and we watch the flock while the shepherd goes to find the lost lamb.

If the flock is adequately protected and in the pasture where the shepherd wants them to be, then the flock will maintain itself. The ewes will feed the lambs they will eat they will drink they will grow and be strong, and produce.

This message is directed at Pastors, but its also directed at each and every one of us. As Humans int he church we have the ability to change from a sheep to a howling predator in the blink of an eye.
We have the ability to destroy and scatter by simply saying that vindictive word. Pastors are judged and thrown out of congregations not because they failed, but because they preached the words that God put on their hearts. We the congregation must constantly keep our eyes on Him so that we will not become that which we fear!

Consider, this week, who you are watching, consider what you are doing, think about what you are saying. Consider the actions you take, the words you speak, and the attitudes of your heart.

Family Ties vs IDeals
Some of us are fortunate to have families that agree with our ideologies, and some don't. On the other hand some of us have to deal with family that is diametrically opposed to our own ideas. But no matter what, family is family. We love them, we hate them ...
