I build Puppet environments all the time, which means I need to set up Puppet Masters all the time.  Here's what I do to get a Master (with PuppetDB) running on CentOS 7 "hella quick-style." Build a CentOS 7 machine and set i...

Great tutorial on router hacking.
So it's finally July, time to pack for DEFCON, follow @defconparties on Twitter and decide which villages to visit and which talks to attend. There's a new hacking competition this year called SOHOpelesslyBroken, presented by...

Happy Systems Administrator Day! OPs is a hard game to play. Having done system administration for a large part of my career I have nothing but respect for anyone who takes care of systems and networks for a living (as long as my email stays up) ;) Keep up the great work.

I guess reading and writing to the same sector of the disk for close to 20 years might not be such a good idea. The issues was only discovered when the RAM battery in the equipment died (apparently it stored an emulated version of the floppy drive in memory )and I tried to load the backup configs from this floppy :)

Lol. We had a hdd that failed after a similar lifecycle that cut a ring out of the drive. When we pulled i apart, it had a floating donut in the case with the remainder still on the cylinder.

My favorite game to play on my way to DEFCON is spot the hacker. It's not as hard as it seems since the snarky black shirts tend to give them away.

Anyone know what type of flower this is? It grows on a vine and has a very feint sweet scent.

The nurses here are top notch and genuinely care for their patients well being. I have been going here for treatments for the past 3 years and every time the quality of service provided is above and beyond. The building also has many small "healing gardens" around it so the patients can relax in a calm and serene environment.
