As a vegetarian, you would think I'd stray from steakhouses. The exception is Harry's Cafe. Not only do they offer plenty of mouth-watering, veg-friendly sides and small dishes, but the quiet ambiance is unparalleled in New York (especially in the Stone Street area). The ridiculously spacious bar and restaurant is accented with an impressive wine collection throughout. In my experience, the food is always delicious, staff always friendly & knowledgeable and easily one of my favorite spots downtown.

I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Top Pick for Power Lunch Food: Excellent! I recommend the crab cakes, salmon or the burger. Drinks: Excellent. Nice wine selection. Space: Very spacious at the bar narrower at the tables. Very cozy and intimate feel when dining with captains of industry during lunch! Scene: Harry's is NY's power lunch spot for finance types! NY's most powerful people cut deals over lunch. It's the go to for the elite in the corporate sector/"captains of industry". The bar does provide some comedy. NYC=work hard+play hard So, occasionally you will find the falling on you slurring guy :) Crowd: 30-60s Service: Excellent. Extremely courteous. The bartenders will create whatever you are in the mood for.

Good steak sandwich tho I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Best French toast ever (and i don't even like sweets necessarily). Place was empty at 1pm to 3pm Saturday and the server was attentive with the champagne refills.

This is a popular lunch spot for people who work in the financial district. Old-school vibe with waiters in suits and bow ties. The prices were high ($15 for a BLT?) but then again the portions were very very large (enough for 2 meals). The food is very good. The BLT is served with avocado on a high quality italian bread. There are a lot of appealing side dishes. I especially enjoyed the french fries which are thin with a nice crisp texture. The creme brulee was also delicious. Definitely would return to again.

One of my perennial favorites for all occasions in the FiDi. Brunch is an AYCD affair, but the food doesn't suffer because of it, and the atmosphere is lively without being a drunken party. Weekday lunch is wonderful, as are after work drinks and dinner. Highly recommended for those who want to forgo some of the stuffier Wall Street places to bring clients/friends.

Delicious rustic steak. Good new year's party. A little past its hay-day.
