     Lost in Japan

This sunrise from the Island of Izena was made possible by two wonderful people (and great photographers in their own right) +Naoko Orr  and +David Orr . This image is the centre frame of a panorama I shot this summer while vacationing with my family in Okinawa.
I have just returned from a winter trip there with +Giovanni Piliarvu  and +Hidetaka Onoyama .   The Orr's were kind enough to share their home and Island once again.

Lost in Japan

My last sunrise of 2014 at Mount Fuji. Looking forward to the first sunrise of 2015 at Oarai in Ibaraki, Japan with my sons and wife. Should be great. Happiest New Years.

        Lost in Japan

A long exposure from Dogashima area in Izu, Japan.  This was my second attempt at the Sanshiro Islands. Although the southern approach is more popular, especially with low tide revealing a land bridge to the first island, the northern view setup so beautifully with this sunset/sky.  A highly recommended spot for any shooters visiting  Japan and wanting some great seascapes.

Day three of twenty in +David Orr 's challenge.

The old man and the tree.  This particular tree is quite a famous one.  It is called the Christmas Tree, and is located near the village of Biei in central Hokkaido.
The sun will set behind this lone tree, often drawing several photographers each night.  To have a single photo-gigi,  retired photo enthusiasts as they are known in Japan, separated from the heard is quite remarkable.  A real treat to watch him stalk his pray.

Day one of the #twentydayblackandwhitephotochallenge
Thank you to +David Orr for making this challenge up.  I nominate him to join his own challenge.

A portrait of what Biei, Hokkaido is.  Big Sky, endless fields and a horizon that just begs you to explore it a little more.

#fivedayblackandwhitechallenge  Day five.
I nominate the entirely to busy +Jason Arney to this challenge.
