Eataly is more than a supermarket with restaurants. It is an energetic marketplace--an opportunity to taste and take home the products of artisans who create the highest quality products.

3/2/14: Visiting here was an amazing experience. Even though I only stayed for a little bit, it only takes seconds to realize Eataly is one comprehensive food experience. It's amazing how big the venue is, yet everything seems to be in the right place. I just tried a Diabella Golosotto at the pastry section and it was really incredible. Hopefully I will have a longer stay next time!

This Italian Market is amazing! When you walk in it's as if you are going into many shops all in one place. Their Birreria and other restaurants are delicious! Highly recommend anytime of year.

This hopping place is nice for a glass of wine, gelato, slice of pizza, or even to split a gourmet sandwich. Grabbing your provisions to go enables one to eat across the street in cute Madison Square Park where you can catch up with yourself or some friends.

They have less hot food bars than one would think. I think it should be more picnic friendly. Its more these sit down places, like a giant mall foodcourt. It's obviously more upscale than that, but I just don't think I'd like to sit down to eat in a giant hall that's loud and filled with people passing you by. I personally like the gourmet deli feel, like the Grand Central Market, etc. I got one of their freshly carved meats of the day and took it to Madison Square Park nearby. It was a roast pork, came on a baguette with some olive oil drizzled on top. Again, not really a deli selection though. While the meat was good, it wasn't really a put together meal. Its still a nice place to check out if you'd like to cook--they have a number of fresh ingredients and housemade fresh mozarella.

One of the best hot chocolate I have ever had. I recommend cioccolata con panned from their Lavazza Cafe. It is dark, rich, and creamy texture and is typed off with a dollop of fresh whipped cream.

I love the concept of eating in a supermarket and this is the best way to describe this place. I gave it one less star for serving ham and pork but I know its tradition so no biggie.. I recommend the croissants and hot chocolate even in mid summer!
