Yup. The part about being open about dealing with depression at the end of the article regarding his loss to the world at large and his friends/family in particular was a big part of why I wanted to share this link. Such an unnecessary loss.

"I'm gonna name her Password123!" A friendly reminder of what not to do by Bizarro Comics.

Somewhere between 2 and 9 million infected phones. Not good. What does it do? "...it does at least two things you’d probably rather your phone didn’t do: Fakes alerts encouraging you to download other infected apps, as well as things things like AlphaSMS, which hijacks your phone and silently signs it up for premium SMS services. Sends your phone number and unique device i.d (the IMEI) back to the malware’s mothership."

If you use a computer these cases should interest you with how easy it is for prosecutors to file charges for "unauthorized" access. The Drew, Swartz and Auernheimer cases seem like examples of over reaching the law to punish perceived "bad people".

A rather short but interesting interview with a couple of the tech people involved in the Obama election campaign. Definitely some contrasts to the ARStechnia write up about tech usage by the Romney campaign.

Read how Ubuntu was used to power President Obama's re-election campaign.  A technology investment that proved decisive in their election-day victory.
