Returning Wolves Brought New Life to Yellowstone Park

It is far from intuitively obvious that introducing a predator would result in the other species thriving, but that's what happened when Wolves were returned to Yellowstone Park after having been eradicated completely for 70 years. The wolves brought the animal population back into balance, allowing not plants and other animals to thrive. The thriving plant life even changed the flow of the rivers. This is proof once again that every part of an ecosystem plays an important role in maintaining the ecosystem's health.

Therapeutic. Amygdala stimulation  is a true healing art.
Emotional learning
In complex vertebrates, including humans, the amygdalae perform primary roles in the formation and storage of memories associated with emotional events. Research indicates that, during fear conditioning, sensory stimuli reach the basolateral complexes of the amygdalae, particularly the lateral nuclei, where they form associations with memories of the stimuli. The association between stimuli and the aversive events they predict may be mediated by long-term potentiation,[21][22] a sustained enhancement of signaling between affected neurons.[3] There have been studies that show that damage to the amygdala can interfere with memory that is strengthened by emotion. One study examined a patient with bilateral degeneration of the amygdala. He was told a violent story accompanied by matching pictures and was observed based on how much he could recall from the story. The patient had less recollection of the story than patients with functional amygdala, showing that the amygdala has a strong connection with emotional learning.[23]

Memories of emotional experiences imprinted in reactions of synapses in the lateral nuclei elicit fear behavior through neuronal connections with the central nucleus of the amygdalae and the bed nuclei of the stria terminalis (BNST). The axon terminals from sensory neurons form synapses with dendritic spines on neurons from the central nucleus.[24] The central nuclei are involved in the genesis of many fear responses such as defensive behavior (freezing or escape responses), autonomic nervous system responses (changes in blood pressure and heart rate/tachycardia), neuroendocrine responses (stress-hormone release), etc. Damage to the amygdalae impairs both the acquisition and expression of Pavlovian fear conditioning, a form of classical conditioning of emotional responses.[3]

The amygdalae are also involved in appetitive (positive) conditioning. It seems that distinct neurons respond to positive and negative stimuli, but there is no clustering of these distinct neurons into clear anatomical nuclei.[25][26] However, lesions of the central nucleus in the amygdala have been shown to reduce appetitive learning in rats. Lesions of the basolateral regions do not exhibit the same effect.[27] Research like this indicates that different nuclei within the amygdala have different functions in appetitive conditioning.

Sadly I saw this prediction on a documentary on PBS way back in the late 80's and no one gave it a dam thought. I am disgusted with the out right ignorance of my fellow American.

Scientists confirm that climate change is stalling a major Atlantic Ocean current, and that could lead to flooding and food shortages.

Tell BP to Accept Responsibility

Sea turtle
Progress: 83%
Progress: 83%
Alerts Taken: 16678     Goal: 20000

The Kemp’s ridley sea turtle is the most endangered sea turtle in the world. Before the spill, the turtle was making a strong recovery, but the numbers of its nests have declined dramatically since the spill.

The final phase of the civil trial against BP just ended. The judge has yet to rule, but BP has already said they will likely appeal. The oil giant continues to veil the facts and dodge responsibility for the oil spill and damage to Gulf wildlife habitat.

BP must make a decision to accept responsibility or continue to drag this out in court—hindering restoration efforts for a couple more years. Despite their claims, we know the truth: nearly five years later, the effects of the spill are still being felt today.

Take Action! We need to send a strong message to BP and its lawyers that it’s time to accept responsibility for the oil spill—stop your campaign of denial and deception and pay the maximum fines to help clean up the Gulf and restore wildlife habitat.

One day after BP released a report saying the Gulf is on the road to recovery, we took a trip to one of the most impacted areas from the BP oil spill—Barataria Bay, Louisiana. From a dead baby dolphin to devastation at a bird rookery to active clean-up crews removing tons of oil from barrier islan...

"In this Age of Abundance, inequality has become a moral choice to which society accedes. We absolve ourselves of any sins thrust upon workers vis-a-vis lower wages or poor working conditions as a result of our innovative technologies."

Do we (society) truly have more power than ever to create new and better jobs?
Years ago, my brother, Matt, explained to me that there are three ways to push out the productivity curve: technology, capital, or people. When we

Considering the intelligence these animals posses they should be under the same protections we extend the humans. Nations that hunt them should be held to criminal standers.
Hunted to near extinction, these giant marine mammals are making a comeback—but they still face threats from marine pollution, ships, and abandoned fishing gear.

"it doesn't look like the idea of hacking photosynthesis is going away anytime soon, so you can add souped-up veggies, along with lab-grown burger patties and Soylent, to the list of bizarre techno-foods that may soon occupy a spot in your fridge."
One of the biggest challenges of the 21st century will be figuring out how to feed our rising global population. Now, some scientists are making the radical claim that growing more food won't be enough—we literally need to hack photosynthesis.

How come Alaska is in this position? In fifty years of Statehood the governing body has sucked the big oil tit and yet spent none or little on renewable, sustainable long term investments in the future of the State.  The state has acted like a drug addict who pinches from its own re-up bag. What a bunch of Fool we have been. We live in the perfect environment for low cast energy efficient Data Server farms yet we have not invited Google, Facebook or Amazon to build here. Why in fifty years did the state Not build renewable energy infrastructure in all of its townships and villages? Even now we are pushing to invest in gas, but that to is a limited resource. Where is the leadership of the world to come? Alaska has robbed from its own children what a bunch of Pigs we have been.
A senator from Wasilla removed from the budget all state funding for public broadcasting Thursday, and efforts by a Juneau senator to restore some money failed.

The educational system over looked me as a child, As Marshall mcluhan noted we were emerging out of a print culture and into a multi media culture. The system is still teaching kids in the same unproductive manor and so my whole life has been impeded by false standards of intelligence. Thus I have become my own teacher and the world has been my classroom.

Introduction

Hi my name is Loclynn and  I have the privilege of living in the Alaskan Boreal forest, as such it has provided me with a platform on which I am able to see the world of our ancestor, to smell the forests as they did, to forage from the land, the plants, the fungi, the barks of the trees and the richness of life that embraces every part of a living tapestry. I have re-kindled and old forgotten friend in these woods and I would like to kindle that relationship within you.

I am a Runic Shaman I mix the old with the new, I do not teach a path of revisionism , I am not leading a path back to something old what I am doing is bringing something old into the newness of life.  I use the internet to connect with people around the globe and using common software tools like Google doc's I set up and guide seekers through personalized scheduled spiritual development programs..

I highly recommend Darren’s program of personal transformation and spiritual development.  I’ve been working with him for over three years now and he has opened the world to me threefold.  He is amazingly intuitive and strikingly honest.  I’ve never met anyone like Darren.  He has helped me work through many issues that had remained unresolved, even through years of one-on-one personal counseling with psychologists.  I have not only been able to work through these issues with new found strength and confidence, but I’ve been able to see the many layers of personal issues and personal responsibilities by learning how to look deep within myself, my heart, my soul, my conscience, and find clarity and order in a world of mixed messages, “grey areas,” and chaos.

Here on the internet we have the opportunity to tell a new story about the use of entheogens. What right dose government have to prohibit your state of mind? To control your perception of reality? To limit your access to information? In other words when did we the people give the government the right to control our minds, to regulate our thoughts, to manage our reality? We need to spread new memes to as many people as we can. As Terrance Mckenna said "Take Back Your Mind"
