Here is an interesting area on the Sun from 04-01-17. A couple of sunspot groups and if you look carefully, you can see a prominence poking off to the left. This movie actually captures a small flare up from the left group too! Video was assembled from images captured every 15 minutes over a 2 hour period.(for some reason the movie doesn't loop like it's supposed to...)

"First Light" or should that be "First Weight" with the new scope deck. I didn't fall through! The Sun, full frame with the LS60 hydrogen alpha scope and the ASI174MM camera taken 03-23-17. Not much going on these days.

This is (I hope) a better quality MP4 of the transit

Here is an edited version of the transit video...

OK, there was an ISS transit of the Sun today from my location that I just couldn't pass up ( the last one was 4 years ago). This is the first pass at processing...I used the 60 mm H-alpha scope and ASI174MM camera. Obviously, the resolution is low, but you can still make out what it is! Not bad for such a small scope. (FYI, we had 10-20 mph winds here today so I didn't want to put up a larger scope because of the sail area). The entire transit was only 1.2 seconds long. I'll try to post a movie of the event later. This is my first transit...

Testing out the new LS60 Ha scope. Sunday was first light. Sun is pretty bland right now so it's hard to put the scope through it's paces. Still getting used to the pressure tuning, but it seems to be a good performer. This image is a full size (no mosaic) capture using an ASI174MM camera.

Sky and Telescope emailed me... they are posting my mosaic article from Sept 2013 online.

Finally got some mostly clear and transparent skies. Managed to capture this image of Saturn which I can add to my 12 year long animation! Not the best, but with Saturn so low in the sky and right over the neighbour's house now, I was lucky to get anything this year.

Got around to my Jupiter and Saturn captures. Not the best I've ever done but at least I didn't get skunked this season. And with the weather we've been having that was a real danger. Jupiter is too far west for me now, and Saturn is very low in the sky here in NC but hopefully I'll get a few more chances this year.
