+Phil Floraday hits the nail on the head, but his disappointment is amplified if you stop to consider how many pickup innovations GM has flirted with publicly, yet opted to either ignore or discontinue.

GMT800s, for example, were offered with four-wheel-steering and composite beds. GM flirted with active suspension on the GMT400, along with a nifty super-wide bed with no wheel well intrusions. Chevy Cheyenne concept also had neat bed-side access doors just aft of the cab. And, love it or hate it, the Avalanche's mid-gate system did offer flexibility no other rival could.

But the '14 Silverado/Sierra? A slightly new look and some mildly-different engine choices. That's about all we're in store for.
