As a followup to yesterdays popular Guide to Selling Your Blog today we published an interview with Andrew Knibble from Flippa (one of the best places to sell a blog).

In it we found:

- blogs make up more sales than any other site type on Flippa

- the platforms used to run and monetize a site can affect its value

- building your authority in your niche can be a big help if you want to acquire a blog down the track

- yes, Blogger blogs do sell!

Read the interview at:

The last couple of weeks have turned up some valuable blogging advice for those who are working to hone their craft and become better blog post writers.

Not everyone falls into this category—some bloggers are happy with the way they write. Others publish videos or sound files instead of text. And that’s fine.

But for the rest of us, I wanted to put together a little roundup of advice on each of the parts of a text-based blog post.

Here it is:

Hey Darren, I love this! I can totally relate as my 6 year old daughter does the exact same thing! I came up with the idea to start a blog for her. I will teach her how to scan in her art work and post as articles on her blog. It will be like her own art gallery.

How do you feel about kids starting blogs?

Shortcuts - today my inbox seems full of people looking for them for their blogs.

Excerpts from emails received from bloggers this week:

1. 'I need to make some quick money and want to start a blog because I heard that they are great at that. Can you tell me how to do it fast?'

2. 'I have been blogging for 3 weeks and it isn't growing as fast as I expected. How do I fast track it to where your blog is at?'

3. 'I need to rank #1 in Google for 'lipstick' but even after 2 months of blogging I can't get on the first page of Google - why is it taking so long?'

<Reality Check>

Growing a blog takes time.

While I'm sure there are a few instances of blogs growing and becoming profitable quickly - it is not the norm.

They take years to grow.

They take regular and constant attention.

They need someone to shape them, love them and grow them.

There are no shortcuts.

How Gordon Ramsay Can Increase Your “Expert” Value by 23,900%

To the public, not all experts are created equal.

What’s more, this division exists in all industries, and in every blogging niche.

And it’s not just about working harder, or longer than other people. It’s about knowing how to rise through the ranks of the expert “hierarchy.”

To illustrate, consider for a moment the difference between a chef in a restaurant, a head chef in a five-star restaurant, and then Gordon Ramsay.

In reality, they could have the exact same cooking abilities, but in terms of perceived value, you’re looking at an annual wage of: $30,000, $100,000 and … $24million.

Between the head chef and Gordon Ramsay, that’s an increase of 23,900%
This might seem like quite a leap, but when you understand the following five rungs on the expert ladder, you’ll see how your own value can change dramatically in the eyes of your audience.

I am currently preparing for a presentation for business people on how to grow relationships with social media and blogging influencers - on helping them to approach and grow mutually beneficial relationships with bloggers.

Interested in your experiences - particularly positive ones. How do you like to be approached by businesses?

Do you have any examples of it being done well?

What advice would you give such a group?

I get about 200 of these a week :)

1. Obviously an understanding of not only WHAT the blogger/show host covers but HOW they cover it. Bad example: Offering to do a "guest post" on sites that do not ever have a guest post.

2. Create a good situation: Is there a money making opportunity for the blogger? (Affiliate, etc.)

3. Personalized, personalized, personalized. If it resembles a press release = bad news bears.

4. Participation: Is this person pitching a subscriber? Someone we have seen before on social media? Active in the comments section? All of these help.

In 2012 I'm planning to record a series of interviews with bloggers that are making a living from blogging. I've lined up a few interviews already but would love to unearth some others that are not on my radar. I'm particularly interested in those who are in niches outside the 'make money online' niche.

If you're a blogger that makes a living from blogging and would be interested in being interviewed please leave your name below. Also perhaps tell us a little about your blog, biz model and its history.

AND -If you know of a blogger that might be an interesting interview candidate please also suggest them here.

thanks!

PS: rather not post it here? Feel free to shoot us an email with a brief run down of your story at http://www.problogger.net/contact/
