4 1/2 years ago I purchase a new car from a local Orange County BMW dealership. The car had problems. I ended up having to contact BMW USA to get the problems addressed, as the dealership kept making excuses as to why the problems existed and wouldn't address them. Fast forward to March 2015. I just purchased a car from Sterling BMW in Newport Beach. The sale experience was good, but after having the car for a few days, I realized it had a couple of cosmetic issues. Now, this was a CPO, so it is a used car. But I wanted a perfect car. I assumed my experience would be similar to my last. But I was totally wrong. When I pointed out the problems to my salesman, Ben Keller, and the pre-owned manager, Mike Reed, they immediately setup appointments to have my concerns addressed. The result is a like-new car at a pre-owned price. I couldn't be happier. Thank you Sterling BMW, and particularly Ben Keller and Mike Reed.

Had an experience similar to Jill's. Bought a Certified Pre-Owned X5 in October 2013. In less than a few weeks it was in service, needed a new differential. Remained in service for two months because the part was back-ordered and the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Granted Sterling did reimburse me for two car payments, the inconvenience was major. A few months ago the transmission was thumping. Back in service for... a transmission replacement! This time no BMW loaner car, but instead a sweet Enterprise POS. Awesome. After one year and a not so pleasant BMW experience I decided to sell the X5. I took it into pre-owned to see if they would be interested in buying back the $43k SUV they sold me less than a year and 7k miles ago. I was offered $31,5 (less than what I owe) Hesitant to take that offer I thought about it for a few days. Decided it would be worth paying a couple grand to get out of it and tried to arrange the drop off. Sure enough pre-owned just happened to buy a bunch of cars and no longer had room for my X5, offer retracted. A real bummer of an experience all the way around. I'll never finance a vehicle again, especially from Sterling, and especially a BMW.

Very impressed with the fabulous customer service I received from Sterling BMW. My service advisor, Alex Yorba , was professional and VERY responsive. I dropped off my 428 for service and was checked in and had a rental car in less than 15 minutes............so appreciated the prompt service.

Whatever you do, STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM STERLING BMW as you can. In fact , stay as far away from a BMW as you can. The fish stinks from the head down. GET A LEXUS BEFORE YOU THINK ABOUT A BMW. I bought a pre-owned 328 i BMW about 6 months ago. The moment I left the lot, and drove about 3 miles, a passenger seat belt alarm started going off. Naturally I would tell the person next to me to put on their seat belt but THERE WAS NO ONE sitting there. How do you miss a sensor malfunction like this when the car is "BMW CERTIFIED"? I SPENT $4,000 ABOVE KBB because I thought I was getting a car that was thoroughly checked. HOW THE F DO YOU MISS A SEATBELT ALARM WHEN YOU ARE CHECKING THE CAR OUT???? STUPIDITY AT ITS FINEST. I didn't catch it when I test drove the car because the crooked salesman was sitting in there with me. They end up fixing it when I took it in for service. About 1 month later, I hear a girgling sound coming from my engine. I take it in and the service tech told me that the "computer board and sensors said there is not anything wrong" so they didnt fix my car. I refused to take it home without them fixing it and pointed the noise out to them. They told me again "that is normal". I not only refused to take my car home again, but demanded to speak with the service manager. He found the problem. My crank shaft was cracked!!! That was strike 2. About a month later, my headlights and turn signals would flash on and off automatically without using them manually. I took my car in....YET AGAIN. It was in the shop for 3 days and when I get the car back, EVERY SINGLE ONE of my sensors was now going crazy, flashing on and off. So my car went back in the shop. Thankfully I didnt even leave the lot this time. Later that day, my car was "ready" to be picked up. I get in my car, drove about 3 miles, and the headlights and turn signals start doing the exact same thing again. DID THEY EVEN LOOK IF THEY FIXED IT????? So my car is back in the shop for over a week. NO LOANER CAR, enterprise POS. They finally fixed the problem....for now. I have complained about my transmission making strange sounds and not shifting properly but they always tell me there is nothing wrong with it. I know that in the next year, I will have to replace my transmission on my own dime. I WOULD DO ANYTHING TO GET OUT OF MY BMW AND SWITCH TO LEXUS IF I COULD. DO NOT BUY A BMW AND DO NOT STEP ON THE GROUNDS OF STERLING BMW.

Sadly I am thoroughly disappointed in Sterling BMW. All they care about is selling you a car and their commission check I have had the absolute worst experience and do NOT even want my new "certified" X5. I had it less than 24 hours and the check engine light came on. But I sold on the fact it was CERTIFIED with 144 point inspection and should not buy private party. I texted a photo of the engine light issue to my sales rep Robert and didn't hear from him that night or even the next day. Nor did he set up the complimentary satellite service features for me that he touted. I had to make 2 additional calls to get service. Robert said my paperwork was ready for me to sign the deal upon the purchase and we had to wait 1.5 hours only to be rushed out of the dealership so had no clue on how to use the features and benefits of my X-5 but I could call or bring the car back and someone could show me. My car (had less than 24 hours) still being serviced and waiting for another part so they are thinking it will be another week before I get to use my car. In the meantime, I am on my 3rd loaner from BMW (2 loans needed to be serviced) so they picked them up after again I contacted the sales person and he has yet to reach out to me after multiple requests to him. I have left messages for Preston who is in charge of the dealership but days later still have not heard from him. I called and spoke to Steve, Sales Mgr explained my story and how upset and disappointed I am about the situation having purchased a car I am unable to drive and for the lack of response from their team. Due to my inconvenience and lack of customer service or empathy except from Bryce in service, I was hoping for some type of compensation but all they can do is detail my new car and give me a full tank of gas from them test driving it. WOW! I asked them to give me back my range rover with no problems and I would start over and this request was denied as well. So they have my CERTIFIED X-5 that I am paying for, on a 3rd loan car and still have no idea when I will get it back. Today I received my payment booklet and I was supposed to have been given 2 months free which it did not reflect either. This deal has been nothing but issues and disappointments. I am not embellishing this story at all. I would never buy a BMW again and certainly not at this dealership. Lack of customer service and certainly clueless on how to satisfy their customers. At least the drive to Newport Beach was nice since they are on prime real estate on PCH.....but keep driving! Not worth the hassle, time or money.

Horrible Customer service experience. my friend and i wen here to puchase cars (one for him and one for me). The saleswoman Accused my friend who was trying to buy a car from there of selling he car to people in china because he was Chinese. Then when i stated i would buy the car she refused saying i was trying to do a straw man purchase that she didn't want to be apart of. Don't bother going here. They discriminate.

Recently, it was time for my wife and I to shop for a new car. We had decided to look for a pre-owned BMW 3 Series convertible. After doing a lot of research online to figure out which model and features we wanted, we started shopping in the Orange County and LA markets for the right car for us. Over the course of a long and intensive three-day weekend, we visited four different BMW dealers between Orange County and LA - multiple times. We also looked online at the pre-owned inventories of all BMW dealers in Southern California from LA to San Diego and spoke to several more of those dealers on the phone. We also spoke to a very reputable non-BMW dealer that sells a lot of pre-owned BMW’s in Orange County. To BMW’s credit as a company, everyone we spoke with at all of the BMW Dealerships were courteous, professional and not at all pushy. Late in the afternoon on the last day of our BMW car shopping weekend, we ended-up back at Sterling BMW in Newport Beach. At that point, we had completely identified the pre-owned 3 Series model and features we wanted. Not only did Sterling BMW have the pre-owned car we wanted, it seemed, that in all of our shopping and research over the previous few days, Sterling had more of the models we might consider buying with more of the features we were looking for on cars with fewer miles and better prices than the other dealers we had visited or dealer sites we had researched. When we finally made the decision to buy our new pre-owned BMW, it was nearly 6pm (closing time) on Sunday afternoon on Father’s Day. We told the staff we could come back the next day and complete the transaction, but they offered to stay, do all of the paperwork, have the detail team wash and prep the car and let us take it home that night, which was pretty exciting for us. At 7:45pm that night on Father’s Day, we drove our new pre-owned 3 Series BMW convertible home and we were thrilled with the service which everyone at Sterling provided us, the price we paid for the car and the car itself! During the sales process, we had identified a few minor things on the car we wanted fixed and the folks at Sterling said to just bring it back the next day on Monday or whenever it was convenient for us and they would take car of those items. We did take the car in the next day and Sterling took care of everything we identified promptly and to our satisfaction. We had a great pre-owned BMW purchase experience at Sterling BMW in Newport Beach and now, nearly 2 weeks later, we are still thrilled with our new 3 Series convertible and completely satisfied with our entire experience at Sterling BMW. Additionally, this is our fourth pre-owned BMW and we still love the whole BMW driving experience. BMW’s balance of luxury, power, handling and overall performance does indeed make a BMW “The Ultimate Driving Machine!" We’d like to thank everyone who helped us and provided us with friendly, fun and outstanding service at Sterling BMW including Mark Cullinane and Mike Walters (our outstanding sales advisors), Bob Wilson (sales manager), Candice Boldt and John Ditch (finance managers), Bryce Walters (pre-owned service manager) the Sterling BMW Detail Team and Ken Johnson and his team in the Parts Department. Everyone at Sterling BMW was fantastic and we had a great car shopping experience. You were all friendly, highly professional and completely low-key with no pushiness whatsoever. Thank you all. We would highly recommend all of you and Sterling BMW to anyone shopping for a new or pre-owned BMW! Sincerely, Randy and Cheri F.
