The Nobel for the bard of our time

"Dylan is the brilliant inheritor of the bardic tradition. Great choice." -- Salman Rushdie

Bob Dylan's win is surely a radical choice that has both its defenders and detractors. I myself would have been happier with Margaret Atwood or Marilynne Robinson. But having resonated to Dylan's lyrics/music for many years, I am not disturbed by the Nobel committee's decision. Perhaps Dylan's is the voice that we need to listen to in these times, as indeed we have done in crucial moments of our lives? And at least it's someone I have read instead of an obscure European poet. That has happened more than once in recent history.

So tonight, it's a Bob Dylan festival in our household. We have him on the loop and we're breaking out the last bottle of the hard-to-find coconut toddy. Cheers!

Staying on the wagon… 105 days. I gained some weight back. Its ok though. I got a few good runs in last week along with some weight work. Long run tomorrow afternoon, 30 min or so. I have to get my distance back up, with a 10k looming in the near future.…

it’s a short one, this week. 13 weeks of exercise, nutrition, and smoking cessation.  I am 20 lbs lighter now, and still working at it.  I just completed a “Biggest Loser” challenge at work, and I think I’ve finally developed sufficient nutrition habits…

My favorite blogger, Tom Nardone, once wrote about the idea that sometimes it’s not ADHD, it’s just a bad day. I imagine it is probably easy for those around me to associate every time that I get angry with Tantrum, and dismiss the validity of my…

Another late entry. I was sick for a week.  I still managed to run 2.5 this morning.  And by run, I mean I ran 1.5 and ran/walked the rest.  Feeling like garbage the whole way. I am still down a pound from last week, but that can’t be healthy weight…

Hello and welcome to this, the end of my 11th week of wellness. 77 days ago was day one of not smoking. No nicotine at all. No patches, no gum, no vape.  As I pass up opportunity after opportunity, stressful situation after social situation, I realize…
