While we finalize casting decisions, meet the face behind the casting process. She's been working tirelessly for the past several weeks to ensure that we have the best cast possible!

MaryJo Petersen Castro, Casting Director:

MaryJo is the owner of Petersen Casting and has casted and worked in live media, television, and film for 14 years. In 2002, she began producing stage productions in Gainesville, GA for Free Chapel and the international flagship television show, Praise The Lord, for Trinity Broadcasting Network. Ten years later, MaryJo accepted a position as Director of Communications at Redemption where she continued to produce live events and oversee the Media and Marketing Departments. MaryJo began her career in the industry as an actress and model more than twenty years ago. She went on to study film and acting at Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, Arizona before landing her first producing credit. MaryJo currently freelances and lives in Greenville, SC.

We are excited to officially announce that Sara McMann will be joining the cast of Submission Movie!

Sara is a mixed martial artist and the first American woman in history to win a Silver medal in Olympic wrestling, earning the title at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. She is currently #7 in official UFC women's bantamweight rankings. In addition to wrestling, Sara has had a passion for theater and acting since a young age. She participated in theater productions at Mcdowell High School in Marion, North Carolina and earned her undergraduate degree in Theatre from Lock Haven University. She then went on to receive a Master's Degree, this time studying Mental Health Counseling at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. Known to her fans as “THE” Sara McMann, she was born in Maryland and fights out of Gaffney, South Carolina.

John Carrington, Director of Photography:
John is a cinematographer and colorist who has worked in the film industry for 10 years, across more than 20 countries on countless documentaries, commercials and short films, including working as a colorist for the short film, Locker 212, starring Nick Searcy of the popular television series Justified. John studied at the University of Central Missouri before moving to South Carolina in 2011 and accepting a position as Lead Filmmaker for NewSpring Church. He currently freelances and lives in Greenville, South Carolina.

Randall Owens, Executive Producer:

Randall Scott Owens is an Executive Producer and Director with a career spanning over 25 years. He's known for Only God Can (2015), starring Lisa Sheridan (Invasion) and Donna D'Errico (Baywatch). Owens has won multiple awards, including Emmy Awards, ADDY Awards and Telly Awards. In 2005, Owens co-founded Skyline Post, a post-production facility with major clients such as Belk and The Home Depot. He partnered with Justin Berrios in 2012 to form Lingo Films in order to produce original faith-based content for Web, Television and Film. Owens currently resides in Greenville, South Carolina.

J.M. Berrios, Director:

J.M. Berrios is a director and award-winning cinematographer. He has won multiple ADDY Awards for his work in television and in 2012, Berrios founded Lingo Films, a production company based in his hometown of Greenville, South Carolina. He studied film at Full Sail University and immediately started working on numerous popular television shows and feature-length films throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and New York as a lighting technician and camera assistant. He's worked on productions such as the film, "Leatherheads" and the hit TV series, "The Vampire Diaries" and has lensed three feature films, including the film, "Only God Can", which released in select theaters nationwide in 2016. Berrios resides in Greenville with his wife, Gina, and their sons, Alexander and Jude.

Gloria Stella, Producer:

Getting her start in the entertainment industry as a SAG-eligible actor before transitioning to working behind-the-scenes, Gloria has over a decade of both production and corporate experience. Her credits include producing and working as the 1st Assistant Director on a number of productions including the feature film, Stand Your Ground Movie (2013), which was released in select theaters nationwide in January 2014, The Christian View, now a nationally broadcast talk-show in the US and productions for national brands, like Chick-fil-A. Gloria founded En'val Entertainment in 2013 and is currently in-development for it’s debut film, Streiker Movie based on the best-selling novel, Streiker's Bride by Robin Hardy. She currently lives north of Atlanta with her husband, Robert, and their two sons.

PGA Producer and entrepreneur Autumn Essie Bailey-Ford has produced over three dozen independent film projects including Blackbird (2014 film) starring Mo'Nique and Highway (2012) starring Devin The Dude, Lil Duval, and Eddie Griffin. She is the founder of Autumn Bailey Entertainment, founded the Georgia Entertainment Gala and runs the Get Connected Atlanta monthly industry mixer. A 9-year native of Atlanta with York, Pennsylvania origins, Autumn studied Mass Communications with a minor in Philosophy at Shaw University. She resides in Atlanta with her husband.

Scott Pryor as CODEY "BEAR" BLACKBEAR:

Actor Scott Pryor is known for his role as Jack Stone in The List (2015), starring alongside Montell Jordan. The film is an official selection of the 2016 International Christian Film Festival, Christian Worldview Film Festival, and received a "Platinum Remi" award at the 49th Annual WorldFest Houston International Film Festival, and is now available on DVD. Pryor got his start acting in national commercials before taking a break to serve as a United States Marine. Pryor went on to play a Marine in Pale Horse (2014) before landing the lead in his next film. Originally from Billings, Montana, Scott is accomplished in martial arts and a five-time state championship wrestler.
