I'm honestly perplexed that so many freaked out over Copyblogger's move to turn off comments on their blog. After all, isn't it their blog, not ours??

I've read hundreds of posts at Copyblogger.

Rarely read the comments since most of them were self-serving rather than adding deeper insights into the topic.

Agree... it's silly. It's their business.

Marketers taking about marketing to marketers...

I have no comment.

I truly enjoy watching you push your thoughts on this Ryan, and the conversation surrounding it. Although I don't necessarily think list posts are bad (at all), I appreciate you pushing people to find their remarkable. At the same time,  Remarkable is such a relative term, changing by the day. Unlike many in this field, I think remarkable in many ways is having the guts to push publish on anything these days. For many, this alone ain't exactly easy. A

Appreciate you brother.

It's important to write for the things you stand for and for yourself, but it takes time ( maybe not amount of articles ) to realise what makes you remarkable and what can you push forward as value. Great article +Ryan Hanley.

Hey Marcus.  I've finally taken control of my website!  I've embraced word press, spent many sleepless nights building my new site and it's finally paying off.  For a sneak peek check it out at www.artisticpoolscorp.com See you in Atlantic City!

Ever seen a blogger change his/her mind? I have. Heck, I've done it a lot. And do you know what, it's a good thing, and here's why...

I firmly believe we're setting the bar way too high in the content marketing industry--ultimately scaring off people from creating art. I think it's time to bring it back to the basics of  "inclusion for all"

Thank you for this article. Great perspective. I think this is true of both content marketing and Google+. People are intimidated by both, and they see negative comments out there by "experts", so they're afraid to join the conversation.

Should a writer's (employee's) voice be sacrificed to maintain the "company" voice? It's an interesting question, and I'd love to know your thoughts as well...

Kevin,
You're overthinking it.  I get it, you want quality writing that's in line with the company's culture.  The point of the inbound blog is to get your employees to be excited about the company and involve them.  You are letting them know they matter.  You can always tweak what they write and I've found when employees blog, they add a different perspective that appeals to others who may not have been customers in the first place.

I'm of the opinion that the "digital land rush" of today means future businesses-the ones that have yet to form- are potential in big trouble, or at least at a huge disadvantage. What say you?

Totally agree! I wrote a similar thought in a post a few weeks ago, saying the window of opportunity has closed.

A lot of people, though, tend to believe you can start at zero now and still achieve the same success that established platforms have.
