We were taking advantage of this fabulous weather today to get a high level mast view of an office building. The mast is very stable and can carry a heavy, high resolution DSLR camera with pro lens for the best quality. Thanks James Brunnen for your help. www.cjb.photos

My new Aerial Photo Library is going well. It's now searchable with Keywords on on a map. All the images are geotagged and the viewpoints show on the map- zoom in to a location to see them. http://www.cjbphotography.co.uk/aerialphoto/

I’m putting the finishing touches to my next 2 flight plans. The first around Hampshire will cover Winchester, Southampton, Havant and Portsmouth areas and the second around West Sussex including Worthing, Brighton and Burgess Hill.

If you have a site that needs an aerial photo taken on either of these shared flights please give me a call or send your maps, plans or instructions.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I'm planning my next flight, the sites will be ready in a few weeks so I hope the weather lasts until then. If you have a site that needs an aerial photo please send me your maps and plans to join in on this Shared Flight. I'll be covering a wide area from Southampton to the place in this photo, do you know it?

I've uploaded my Aerial Photo Library to Flickr with the aim of using their Map facility to display my photos. It's ok once you get used to the procedure but I'd like to know what you think and how you fine the process. I look forward to your feedback. Thanks

I've just found a back-up CD of images that hadn't made it into the Aerial Photo Library so it's now been updated. They are of the Pitwines area of Poole around Seldown Bridge.

Note to all my property industry clients considering the use of drones. The talk at the moment is all about drones or UAV’s to get high level or aerial photos of properties. We see footage from these used frequently on television programs and the news. But do you know the regulations covering the flying of these machines? There are now people offering this service so you might be surprised to learn they might be operating outside the law, I’ve seen shots used in marketing material that have clearly been taken illegally. The restrictions are very tight- you cannot take off and land near people or fly over them, nor can you overfly roads and properties or indeed any congested area. This rules out all towns and city centres, and most industrial estates and business parks and restricts them to open countryside or possibly over water. I fly in a helicopter with a professional, commercial pilot and an Air Operators Certificate, meaning we are within the law at all times and I know the work I carryout should not be attempted with an unmanned aerial vehicle. You should also consider the quality of the images they can produce from the compact cameras they carry given the restricted payload they can lift. Here is a short video from the CAA, describing in the simplest terms, what you must know before using a UAV.

I can't wait to take my new toy out on a flight, do you need a site shooting?  For aerial photography resolution is everything, and this has it in truck loads. "Designed to deliver the ultimate in DSLR image quality, with 50.6-megapixel resolution and a low-pass cancellation filter that maximises the sharpness of the camera’s sensor". It's great in the studio too, for the highest quality print resolution files.
