Amazing food. I always have a great time here drinking & having sushi with friends. It's kind of small, you definitely should make reservations in advance. Everyone is so friendly and attentive to your needs. Cant wait to go back!

I love 1. that this place is within walking distance from my apartment, which is great particularly when it is freezing/raining/snowing 2. how cozy this place is 3. how friendly the staff is 4. how affordable and delicious their drinks are! There is a bourbon, lime kind of cocktail on the menu that I highly recommend! Limited food menu though, so I just go for drinks.

And if not, having the store order it in for you is incredibly easy. I stopped buying books from Amazon and Barnes & Noble a few years ago - I'm a die-hard bookworm, obsessive book-buyer, and buy books by odd, somewhat archaic standards of my own device. If it's not in stock, a quick request at the desk brings it to the store in less than a week.

This restaurant is arguably the best Japanese restaurant in the United States. When it comes to Japanese restaurants, Los Angeles has the best and yet, this "hole in the wall" makes most sushi restaurants cheaper ones, as expensive ones, even more expensive one, just look drat. What the sushi restaurant to two Japanese cuisine is similar to what Napa Valley wine did to the French wine world. No boom up to ESA is one of the great men who helped proliferate Uzan cruising and enter it in the main stay of the world of gastronomy. If you ever consider going to know boo, the restaurant, consider going to Matsuhisa instead. This is his restaurant, and the quality is superior. If you are lucky enough you'll even see no blue Mutzy he's at his first successful restaurant. If you're lucky like an Irish men kissing the Blarney Stone and find me a four leaf clover with a leprechauns treasure, and speak Japanese, you can even get no boom out to ESA to personally create cuisine for your party. They're more expensive sushi restaurants and this place is obviously on the more expensive side, however whatever price this place charges, it is worth saving your money and going to this restaurant at least once in your life. Don't forget to get the yellow tell carpaccio it is just heaven.

Man, this place was such a great surprise. I saw the great yelp reviews at this place and decided to try it out for Sunday lunch. The only thing I knew about this place was that they did pork right, and that was enough for me to head out to Nielsen.

On my latest trip to Los Angeles I got a reservation, thanks to my Uncle Isreal to the famous Matsuhisa it normally takes a year to get a reservation, so this is a HUGE deal. Matsuhisa is Chef Nobu's very first restaurant, it is arguably the best sushi place in the USA! The restaurant is very, very tiny the sushi bar is very narrow not even two people can fit through! The dinning room is also very small but there is still room for lots of famous people. I sat at a table and Kenny G was eating behind me, how cool! But now on to the yummy part, for an appetizer I got the toro tartare with caviar in a dashi broth. The toro tartare was intricately flavored yet keeping the fish's natural flavor and the caviar nicely complemented the fish, The toro tartare had a very bold dashi broth that was very strong in that great mouthwatering umumi flavor. Overall,it was an awesome way to start a meal. Next, I ordered some tuna sushi and it was interesting how the tuna had a vinegary sauce and Chef Nobu's dry miso seasoning. It was very good and a new experience for me and a very interesting way to make sushi. My Aunt ordered the tempura plate and I got to try the shrimp tempura, which was very light with a dipping sauce, always a classic. Dad ordered the fish and chips it was very simple but it was the best fish and chips I have ever had. I also got some normal tuna sushi it was absolutely perfect the rice was sticky and absorbed the soy sauce perfectly the tuna was rich, tender, umaumi, and every thing you could want one bite of sushi to be, no other sushi will ever top it. Except another order of sushi from Matsuhisa! We got desert from Chef Nobu and it had shaved ice and great mochi and some banana tubes they were all very good. Chef Nobu made an unexpected stop at Matsuhisa and came around meeting the dinners and I talked to him and he was very happy! I got to tour the very, very ,very tiny kitchen, I saw the dish washers and how the restaurant can't function with out them and I saw the little grill area and the tiny sushi bar and how each plate is like a canvas and they put the seasoning and oils on it like art. Art that is why I love sushi so much- simple, elegant, purposeful food. I will forever remember the advice Shihan Chef Nobu gave me. Consistently the best meal I've eaten in months. I don't even look at the menu. The talented servers choose for me and have never disappointed. Fish that I normally don't touch has me sucking on my chopsticks. A must for any sushi fan.
