Josh Quitnner talks about the vision behind Flipboard, and how it wants to help media companies rather than just disrupting them: http://gigaom.com/2011/09/26/flipboard-josh-quitnner-mobilize-2011/

These Alaskan wildlife images were taken by a outdoor guide who specializes in brown bear and wolf trips in the Bear Maze...these are some amazing up-close-and -personal photographs!

Interesting story about a game mechanic that helped advance AIDS research, unlocking a puzzle that hard formerly eluded scientists using computer and algorithmic models. The scientist is quoted as saying something I argued earlier on G+ about the value of human control vs. algorithms -- that sometimes humans can do things better than computers (http://tinyurl.com/3pf9j8q).

I find it interesting that the scientists (and author of the article) didn't also point out something that seems obvious -- when people are motivated by fun (in this case, games, pure play), they can do amazing things. This is why when friends ask me for career advice, I almost always point them in the direction of what's fun for them, rather than chasing salary and other considerations.

New York Times: How much social networking is too much?

We need to strategize carefully to avoid burn out, yeah? +Guy Kawasaki said on #TWiT Social Hour Monday it will be difficult to maintain all of these networks keep up the level of quality that many of us want to aim for.

+Heather Meeker and +Damien Basile also tackled this question recently and you may have noticed my vocal protests against yesterday's launch of Twitter clone Heello.com when I basically said, "Hey, enough already!"

Here's a nice read at NYTimes.com covering social media fatigue and how Jessica H. Lawrence (pictured) plans to combat it. +Brian Solis says we might get a second wind. What do you think? http://nyti.ms/ovfnFy #Social Networking
