After owning the Nexus 5 for almost 6 months I have decided that I'll never own another Nexus device again... Let me explain.
My first Android device was the G1 which I had for a little while but my first Android daily driver was the Galaxy S3. (I had a couple iPhones for the years in between. I know, I know lol) I loved almost everything about the S3 except how slow it had become after a while, some of the bloatware it had and the slow update process.
So I decided to get the Nexus 5.
I was looking forward to the high end specs, pure Android experience and the quick updates. Well 6 months later and while I feel that the specs are still great, the hardware is not. The camera, the speakers and the earpiece are terrible. And I'm actually bored with stock android, I miss some of the cool features that Samsung added to the gs3, people call them gimmicky and while I agree that some are, for the most part they do add to the user interface.
I've heard that the Nexus program wasn't aimed at the average consumer and so the camera and speaker wasn't a big deal to developers. I've learned my lesson. You get what you pay for. Going forward I will only buy flagship devices from either Samsung, HTC or Motorola.
If you have anything to add or just want to talk about the Nexus program and how it relates to average consumers I'll be more than willing to have an conversation about it. What's your favorite Android device and what's your next one going be?
