Why Does Hair Only Grow to a Certain Length?

A quick introduction:

I very briefly mentioned this in an article about two years ago that you might also be interested in (There is No Difference Between Fur and Hair), but I’ll go into more detail here. Hair length is completely controlled by the length of the anagen phase of your hair follicle. How long this period lasts is generally determined mostly by genetics, but can also be affected by hormones, and even extreme stress. Who Invented the Bloody Mary Drink? (and Who is it Really Named After)

A quick introduction:

For many, Sundays mean brunch and a delicious morning cocktail. Why a Geckos Feet Can Stick to Almost Anything

A quick introduction:

Aristotle was the first known to have commented on the phenomenon, stating gecko’s have the ability to “run up and down a tree in any way, even with the head downwards.” It wasn’t until recently that it was discovered what gave them this spider-man-like ability.

Why is The Toilet Commonly Known as the Crapper (or John)?

A quick introduction:

It all started with U.S. soldiers stationed in England during WWI. The toilets in England at the time were predominately made by the company “Thomas Crapper & Co Ltd”, with the company’s name appearing on the toilets. The soldiers took to calling toilets “The Crapper” and brought that slang term for the toilet back with them to the United States.
