ProView provides a nice I/O API. All devices are controlled through a pair of API calls for reading and writing data from signals. You cannot use channels directly, so every channel should be bound to...

Recently, I spent some time debugging all kinds of crazy, once-in-a-blue-moon type of bugs, usually MP related and often happening in final/release builds only. The annoying problem with these is they tend to “hide” when you try to repro them and then pop up 5 minutes later when you’re investigating something else. That’s why it’s [...]

Video: Records, sums, cases, and exceptions: Row-polymorphism at work, Matthias Blume. I will present the design of a programming language (called MLPolyR) whose type system makes significant use of row polymorphism (Rémy, 1991). MLPolyR (Blume et al. 2006) is a dialect of ML and provides extensible records as well as their exact dual, polymorphic sums with extensible first-class cases. Found this to be an enjoyable and thorough overview of MLPol...

For human beings, reading is much faster than writing. The same is often true for computers: adding a record to a database may take an order of magnitude longer than reading it. But the speed differential can often be explained by the overhead of concurrency. For example, writing to a database may involve some form of locking whereas the database systems must first acquire the exclusive writing rights over a section of memory. If you minimize the...

As you know, I use a well defined set of questions to filter where should I work. If the company does not pass the test, I usually ignore that job offering. For example if I ask “what is your curren

Story
Introduction

Daniel Molina Wegener is an experienced software developer. He knows about procedural programming, funcional programming and object oriented programming. He can build elegant programs in C, C++, Perl, Python, Java, C#, PHP, Lisp, Haskell and other languages. He works using FreeBSD and Linux as main production environments and hates to work with Microsoft products. He spends his time reading, listening music — Rock, New Age and Classical — and studying computer science, programming languages and operating systems.

He is also a FOSS developer, with some projects published and available on internet, and works as freelancer, offering his software development services to live. He is a passionate programmer, and always is seeking for the best technologies available. He is a geek, and autodidact, he can learn almost any programming language in few weeks, and due to his experience and constant practice, he can deliver well done software developments.

He likes to travel to the beach, good tobaco, good wine, good beer, and interesting conversations. He likes to share his knowledge, and some comments on the books that is reading. He likes music, to stay relaxed and deep meditation on life events. He hates the television, he only looks for news programs. He wants to share his life with a good woman, someone to live with. He likes to walk on noons, to have a good conversation, a non conflictive one, to stay in peace and to share a little about his experience.

He also likes to see good movies like Brazil, and also he likes to read good books. He actually lives in Santiago of Chile and wants to live in the Central Coast of Chile, relaxed, close to the sea…
