In The Mystical State, I investigate the intersection of mysticism and politics, looking in particular at how cultures originate, and what is at their center. The book explores how gnosis and culture are connected, and in many respects is unique in its subject matter and approach.

I'm author of books chiefly in the intersection of religion and literature, with special interests in mysticism and Asian religions in the West.  My most recent book is The Mystical State: Politics, Gnosis, and Emergent Cultures, which can be found here.
