Turbulence avoidance is one of the many airspace restrictions that ATC deals with on a daily basis, which can lead to delays. This is also the main reason that you always keep your seatbelt on if you're not moving around, but especially when the crew turns on the fasten seatbelt sign. This story comes via one of my favorite twitter accounts @capitalweather
While I realize this is coded information, I want to make an important point: It is a report of severe turbulence near Grand Rapids, Michigan from a regional jet that was sent with urgent priority. Severe turbulence is rare...

Are you opposed to President Obama's proposed per-flight user fees for general aviation? Let Congress know how you feel! Use NBAA's Contact Congress tool to send your representatives an email, or a separate NBAA resource using Twitter to send messages to elected officials. Let them know: #NoUserFees

Actually, it should read: Operations Service GENIUSES.

If you are looking for a way to improve your aviation knowledge and marketability, I would highly recommend looking into the NBAA CAM program.

Did you know that selected education sessions at NBAA2012 will be eligible for points for the NBAA’s Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) Program? The education sessions involved in this initiative will be worth one quarter of a point toward qualifying for the CAM exam or CAM recertification

Originally launched as the NBAA GA Desk in August 2001, NBAA Air Traffic Services (ATS) represents the interests of business aircraft operators from the floor of the FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC) to ensure equitable access to airports and airspace in the daily management of the National Airspace System (NAS). NBAA currently is one of only three non-FAA organizations invited to staff positions inside the ATCSCC. The FAA invitation acknowledges that having business aviation representatives based inside the ATCSCC, in the form of NBAA Air Traffic Services, benefits both the FAA and the business aviation community. NBAA ATS specialists engage in ongoing collaborative planning and information sharing with ATCSCC staff to help manage the flow of air traffic in the NAS. The participation of NBAA ATS specialists in the daily planning and execution of NAS strategy results in traffic management solutions that benefit the entire business aviation community – including companies like yours.
