Design, Build, & Take Home: Color mixing with Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), and an Arduino Starter Kit with a prototyping circuit board valued at $50!

Employ: Electronic components, prototyping circuit board, and variety of input and output devices.

Facilitated by experienced educators versed in the field of electrical engineering, programming, and inquiry-based learning. Coordinated by LASER-TEC, NSF ATE Regional Center for Laser and Fiber Optics Education.

This camp is for girls and boys ages 9-15.

Discover: Light, optics, lasers, laser systems, fiber optics, integrated photonics, sensors and more!

Design, Build, & Take Home: Your own laser-enabled museum security system with integrated photo alarm system valued at $50!

Employ: Mirrors, lenses, lasers, electrical circuit board, and photo sensors.

Operate: Soldering iron, 3-D printer, mechanical tools.

This camp is facilitated by K-12 educators versed in the field of lasers, fiber optics, and inquiry-based learning and coordinated by LASER-TEC, NSF ATE Regional Center for Laser and Fiber Optics Education.

Cost: $200

Siblings: $150 per child

Full-day: 8:00 am- 5:00 pm
Half-day options available

FREE Lasers and Fiber Optics Workshop EXCLUSIVELY for Home School Educators 

The purpose of this workshop is to introduce cutting-edge technologies of lasers and fiber optics to educators and to help them integrate the science and applications into existing lesson plans.  

Participants will be provided with the Light and Optics Exploration Kit valued at $100 accompanied with comprehensive lesson plans book and outreach materials for classroom use. Lunch will also be provided.

You're Invited! Join us for this free public event to celebrate the 2015 International Year of Light. 

Engineers, scientists, and educators will be discussing topics such as uses of lasers in nuclear fusion, laser technology development, and the limitless capacities of optical fiber in data transmission.

Laser demonstrations and a tour of the IRSC Photonics lab will follow the guest speakers.

The conference is located the main campus of Indian River State College at the Kight Center for Emerging Technologies, Room V110.

LASER-TEC is offering a free Lasers & Fiber Optics Workshop to STEM Educators on May 14, 2015. This workshop introduces cutting edge technologies of lasers and fiber optics to high school and middle school educators and teaches how to integrate the science and applications into existing lesson plans.

A $50 stipend will be offered to all participants. Additionally, an experiment optics kit, valued at $120, and outreach materials will be given to all teachers for classroom use.
