This is what I've been working on for the last few months! The feature allows Android developers to build apps that emulate NFC cards without requiring a separate chip - called a secure element.

There's huge potential for building applications around things like loyalty, building access, ticketing and boarding passes. Any Android KitKat NFC device can emulate cards - and thanks to the new reader APIs, any Android KitKat NFC device can also read those cards.

So you could for example deploy Nexus 10 tablets that can communicate with any HCE-capable device with a simple tap!
