I have read everything you wrote and watched most of the videos.. 1) Tears in my eyes knowing Grandmom alone would be sooo beyond proud... wow..
2)  YOU ARE EXTRODINARY !!! I love you Richie,, Congrats on all your endeavors.. even if I don't FULLY understand the computer "speak" you lay out for us in phenomal detail, I appreciate and am impressed with your astute and vast knowledge... Keep on , Keep  up, and know that you are the family hero, superstar, and we are happy for u... Oh, by the way,, all those years in that "dangerous city" you lived in.. don't forget me, Grandmom and Pop were downstairs, ready and available to protect you at a moments notice had you have popped your head out of your room on occasion!!! The few nano seconds I saw you before you disappeared back to your La BOR a tory,, I remember HOPING you felt safe, loved, and cared for with Grandmom's home cooking, and my frugal attempts to clean the bathroom anyway with two teen boys under the roof, Jimmy, your parents, and two elderly people... LOL!! Fun while it lasted anyway.... I think I lasted 3-4 months and then forced my way back to Elwoods... Yes, it was a tough neighborhood, not a veritable picnic in the park, walk your dog type of place... lol!!! Your faith you speak of seems to have gotten you your true life's calling, and made you the respect of all your family and peers... Good luck continuing as  well as following what makes you happy , healthy and constantly learning while discovering new undiscovered technologies, which is your true treasure at the end of the work day... You are just fine the way you are,  in fact, you are an anomoly, surpasing the rest of us "averagers" in life who settle for just surviving... you aspire to actually " live" your dream... take the good with the bad, until the bad outweighs the good and look for your rainbow somewhere else... you seem to have done so much by now.. I hope your IRA is planned,, near maturity, and a FAT CAT.. lol!!! Call me  to discuss the more mundane such as gardening, and the such...

Much love,

cousin,, Lisa Morgan Mirra

crunch (my open source S3TC/DXTc texture compression, rate distortion optimization, and transcoding library) is now threatened by a software patent (#20110115806): http://code.google.com/p/crunch/

Are there any patent/compression experts out there with advice?

Released rg-etc1.cpp: A fast, high quality ETC1 (Ericsson Texture Compression) block packer/unpacker in a single (ZLIB licensed) source file: http://code.google.com/p/rg-etc1/

rg-etc1 is 2-25x faster than Ericsson's sample compressor (which is the only one available as far as I can determine).
