This pinned tweet is to announce where you can find me when I inevitably abandon G+ for other services. Here's my list in descending order of interesting-ness. I'll update it if things change.

Pluspora (or any other Diaspora server) - https://pluspora.com/u/johnhattan
I'm going to try being active there for a while to see if I get decent engagement.

Blogger - https://thecodezone.blogspot.com is the current most established place for me to post programmer info. I abandoned it for quite some time, but I recently moved all of my G+ programming-related posts there.

Angriest Programmer Twitter - https://twitter.com/klopoknik
If you are one of the three people who just want to read my webcomic, you can follow this. It's a bot that auto-posts whenever I make a new episode.

When I was two years old, my mother bought some plastic numbers to put on my birthday cake. Fifty years later, she still has them.

FYI https://pluspora.com/u/johnhattan

Note that you don't need to have an account of Pluspora. If you've already got an account on any social network that talks to Diaspora pods, you're good. Just search for "johnhattan@pluspora.com" and there I'll be.

Following Twitter two years ago and Facebook one year ago, today I removed G+ from my bookmarks bar :(

Okay, looks like one of my Minecraft server classes is gonna happen (i.e. at least four kids have signed up). And it starts a week from today, so I need to get myself up to speed on all this Minecraft and Chromebook-jailbreaking business.

I did find this one paragraph in the "technical overview" section. They actually want me to teach Sublime Text and Github TO FOURTH GRADERS!?!?

(actually grades 3-5, but no third graders have signed up thus-far)

My boss mentioned that they have a new process that involves the kids just writing their code to USB flash drives that they then hand to me to deploy on the server. Given that you don't usually see SneakerNet supplanting an all-cloud solution, I assume that the process mentioned in this screenshot wasn't the best.

Testing to see how well G+ scrapes a public Diaspora post. Looks like it grabbed the photo just fine. Unfortunately, this post has almost no text, so I'll have to find a public post with a bunch of text to see how that looks. . .

My last teaching session for the fall is next week. One class didn't fully staff up until late September, so there were still a couple of classes after the holiday.

And since I'm the "senior instructor", I've been assigned the stuff that nobody has taught yet, and that's Minecraft scripting.

But. . .

1. Minecraft doesn't run on Chromebooks unless they're jailbroken and running Ubuntu. Ugh.
2. Minecraft scripts run server-side, so seeing your handiwork involves writing a script, uploading it to a server (which I assume I'll be running locally on my Windows laptop), and then connecting to the server to see it run.

Meanwhile, my kid gets to teach "Robotics For Little Coders", which involves getting a dozen of these gizmos and programming them to race/fight/etc.

The trailer for the Syfy series looks cool. I'll get the $1 comic tier and get the rest if it grabs me.
