Working slowly on the next chapters so no updates yet. On the other hand, I've just finished reading a book called "Ostateczni" (no English version, could be translated to The Last Survivors) by Polish writer Henryk Wiatrowski.

It's an amazing story of the Earth after a nuclear war divided into 2 parts - where radiation has changed everything into hell and where living creatures as well as people have mutated and the other part behind a force field where people reconstructed their part of the land and live as much advanced as they used to do before the bombs fell.
Mutants live in tribes as in a reservation w/ regular 'good world' secret gov control and occasional food deliveries. 'Normal' people live in a city called Arcadia yet they explore the outer space and build settlements on distant planets. They are scared of mutants, find them 'gross' and 'dangerous'.

One day a 'normal' girl who turns out a daughter of mutants tribe leader (a physician, a secret Arkadia's resident) comes to the city through a vault near the force field and instantly becomes raped by a local horde. However a local hunter from an intelligent' horde rescues her. He's a mutant but they feel for each other, eventhough she feels very uncomfortable about this feeling. She tells him what's on the other side of the world and he plans on breaking into the place the tribe calls "Haven" which is Arkadia behind the force field. The story may sound like a cheesy romance but it has a negative ending, so wanted in post-apocalyptic literature. It also sounds like a part of Dune (Muad'Dib & Chani with tribe ritual funerals, rules and holy things), but happening on the Earth where ants and bugs are 3 times bigger than a human.

Great reading, ideas, plot and writer's style as well as hidden associations to ordinary life issues.

I'm always interested in non-American post-apocalyptic novels.  It's too bad this one isn't available in English because it sounds really good.

Been a while since the latest update so to skip to the newest story...
In this chapter:
Steel along with a local prostitute Rossi (whom he made pregnant) are joined by Ivo and his partner Starship to drive to KAPPA vault. They're dropping Rossi to let her stay there until the birth time, then her newly born will be escorted with other infants to SIGMA shelter.
A heavy looking, bullet and fire-proof car (Saracen model) passes them by. They recognize a slightly bored face of a regional drug dealer along with his best security who part ways with Steel's team on the crossroads.
When Steel with his team reach KAPPA, they use the local stores to buy medicine, condoms and drugs. While standing in a line, Ivo pays attention to a guy with dreadlocks (Monti) whom he had never seen before and who talks to a woman in one of large corridors.
After this short trip, they move towards Tucovo caverns as Steel has a friend who can guide them around this agro-facility. They've been growing mushrooms along with vegetables in the hydroponic cultures out there. It's a very expensive business and the only active in the entire north region, with stores and restaurants accessible for the customers. (The other place where they grow fruits and vegetables is the Ori monastery located on an island in the south; very little people are welcomed there). When they approach, the area looks very much secured as if it was a prison or a governmental place. They can also see a rock wall with a big amount of holes filled with glass which looks quite intriguing. When Steel's friend joins them, they drive inside of underground parking for a further facility exploration. This place is HUGE.

In this chapter:
HiFive with a partner drive a road down the South to the lighthouse and sea. He's interested to cooperate with an isolated group of monks living on the Ori island. They are supposed to run hidden hydro-farms and may have enough of goods to trade. While driving, they see a space junk falling along the road so they change their trip directions and get to the place where junk hits the ground. It turns out to be a rescue capsule lost by a well known space station. Since it's still hot due to burning in the atmosphere they need to wait a few hours until it cools down.
The capsule had been noticed by others including a drug dealer Tassy whom they meet near the crash site. He collects Mary statues (owns over 1000 of them). He reveals the news about a virus found on a shipwreck at the seashore. HiFive realized he had been before, without any warning. Tassi talks about the villagers who got sick and that he makes great money on trading medicine and drugs with them. He also tries to sell a new drug called Paw!Paw! to HiFive and talks about a sea of mud where villagers work around.
When he leaves, HiFive and his partner open the capsule to discover a dead body of an astronaut and a lot of things they take for the purpose of bartering.

Post-apocalyptic novel with no happy end
Introduction
The entire planet surface was burnt one day. Completely burnt. The only who survived were staying underground when the disaster happened. Now what? Survival. Restoration. Dealing with the reality. Dreaming of what one owned before. Dreaming of the past... but moving on.
