In addition to other strategies, most of which seem to be in President Obama's plan, the AMA and 51 other medical organizations have said that "renewing and strengthening the assault weapons ban, including banning high-capacity magazines, would be a step in the right direction."

As a Senator, you would think that Dr. John Barrasso would agree with them.

Also remember that "children can cope more effectively with a disaster when they feel they understand what is happening and what they can do to help protect themselves, family, and friends. Provide basic information to help them understand, without providing unnecessary details that may only alarm them."

It's World Polio Day. Upload a photo of yourself to Rotary's polio eradication website, endpolionow.org, to be added into the constantly expanding commercial.

Did the Facebook organ donor thing, although I'm pretty sure I have it in my living will and on my drivers license.

Gave me the idea for Facebook to show your/our vaccination status too. It may boost vaccination levels, which would be good with the increasing rates of measles and pertussis we are seeing these days.

And you can actually already do it. Add Life Event > Health & Wellness > Other Life Event... => Tdap #vaccines to #facebook if you are protected. You can add other vaccines too or add your kids' vaccines when they get them.

My parents have lived in South Texas for over 25 years and don't remember having hail storms. The occasional hurricane - sure, but not hail, and certainly not hail that covers the ground in "drifts," like snow. They have had two of these hail storms in the past month. Weird.

We're getting hail in Nashville this year too. We've had no hail in the previous 3 years. Go figure.

An IOM report confirms what most pediatricians and parents already knew to be true - the report did not find any evidence "that the U.S. childhood immunization schedule is linked to autoimmune diseases, asthma, hypersensitivity, seizures, child developmental disorders, learning or developmental disorders, or attention deficit or disruptive disorders." #vaccines

World Prematurity Day is a great time to tell the lame-duck Congress to get the PREEMIE Reauthorization Act passed.

New subway and hospital poster campaign in NYC illustrates the benefits of breastfeeding. What is your community doing to support breastfeeding mothers?

You will feel a little stronger too after watching this video of the kids and staff on the hematology and oncology ward (cancer) at Seattle Childrens Hospital sing Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger."

Why are so many parents still not vaccinating their kids?

Going for Thai food used to be one of the few things that I still felt like I needed to drive to Dallas while living in the Lake Ray Hubbard area. Not since finding Koung Thai though. They have great food and wonderful service and the owner has even been teaching my boys a few Thai words and phrases. It is definitely the place to go for some authentic food, great service, and a fun time.
