update on my coffee table DLP projector hack.. The lamp finally blew out after over 5,000k hours! Grabbed a non-OEM replacement on eBay for only 35 bucks! Working great so far, we'll see how long this one will last, they are rated for a shorter lifespan than the JVC bulbs but couldn't beat the price :)

Picked up a couple of these the other day at Waterfront Rescue Mission for next to nothing... they're the heavy duty metal arcade Dance Dance Revolution stands! ..thinking extra contact sensors and EL-wire mods controlled by a cheap proto-board with usb output for universality of consoles/computer connection! :)

I'm gonna go try to pick this puppy up in the van on Friday if anyone wants to help lift, if not i may just disassemble the thing in the driveway :) another good giant fresnel lens here anyway if the unit isn't modifiable into a projector :)

this was a very well-written April fools post on slashdot, brings up some interesting conversation though. How would we mold TCP protocol to a FTL communication paradigm? There are real (crazy albeit) theoretical physicists trying to send information into the past, the problem being in the past we don't know how to look for that information. Reminds me of a scifi script i wrote a few years back. http://tech.slashdot.org/story/13/04/02/0023208/how-to-communicate-faster-than-light

These folks are amazing, I love it. Their projects and kits are mostly inexpensively implemented and include a Mass Spectrometer, Near-Infrared Camera, Balloon & Kite Aerial Imaging, Air Quality Mapping with a Roomba, and Thermal Photography hacks. Check it :]
