We had the great pleasure of welcoming the Prime Minister's wife, Ms. Akie Abe, on campus today. After touring the classrooms and student residences, Ms. Abe visited our History class.
"Why did this historical event occur?" "What else was occurring in the region at the time?" "How do we define 'power'?" Prompted by the teacher's questions, students in the class led an engaging discussion.
Whenever the rest of the class seemed unconvinced about an idea, students in the discussion were encouraged not to give up, and try to further enlighten their peers.
Seeing this, Ms. Akie Abe commented, "I was astonished to see that students are encouraged to think at such depth on a daily basis. This must make a tremendous difference in what students learn in classes."
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Ms. Abe for making the time to join us in Karuizawa today.

This morning, ISAK was featured on CNBC Asia, a news program widely watched throughout Asia.
It features the story on how Lin became involved in the school project and summarizes the unique aspects of the school in an comprehensible fashion. Please share this post and video clip!

"This school seems to more than just good scores, instead learning to live alongside peers with different social and economic backgrounds. That will probably encourage students to think about problems where there are no right or wrong answers, a school that give students the time and space to do that kind of thing seems like a breath of fresh air in Asia's frenzy for education. " (CNBC journalist, Ms. Kaori Enjoji)
