Memo to everyone on Earth considering attending college and wanting to pay a visit to campus during the summer: SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. Seriously, this is when faculty and advisers take their vacations, and if you walk in unannounced while they're gone and want to talk to somebody on the spot, we can't help you, period.

I'm sure most of you are smart enough to know this, but tell everyone you know that's considering attending college. People told you 15-20 years ago that you can waltz into a department and get an audience, but that advice doesn't apply anymore and a lot of people are working off of assumptions based on outdated information.

I was going to debut on the King Felix's Court blog with a minor league recap, but the Doug Fister deal with Detroit teamed with the host of young talent the M's got in return forced my hand. There's a LOT for M's fans to like about this deal, and trust me when I say that diehard Tigers fans are not too thrilled about losing the talent the Tigers gave up to make the deal.

Krakatoa is a Pacific volcano. Crack a toe is what I did before class last night. Nothing's displaced and I'm not in constant pain, plus I can bend it to some extent before there's pain, which leads me to think it might be similar to the hairline fracture my right pinkie incurred in the 6th grade.

So after a couple decades and change, Barnes & Noble has finally vanquished rival chain Borders, just as B.Dalton and Waldenbooks were put to bed in the 90's. I honestly don't think either store's online presence was a huge factor: People go to Amazon to buy books online, not B&N.

Having frequented both chains, I can say B&N stores were easier to find, the stores more were welcoming and the people easier to deal with (yes, two of my siblings work at B&N, but still). B&N always seemed to evolve with their consumer base and the market while Borders seemed to sit on their heels these final few years, like they stopped evolving at some point in the mid 2000's, maybe sooner.

Today is one of those days where I'm so tired I have to make sure not to lean back more than 10 degrees, because if I do I will keel over and never come back up again.

"There is no 'point' to being in a relationship. The reason that you should be in a relationship with somebody is because they make you happy. That's it. Too many people stay in relationships because they do think there's some point - it's something they have to do. It's not. A relationship is something you do because you love it and think it's great, and that even if it ends, it will have been worth it to feel that connection while you could. The reason that people fight through hard times in a relationship is because there are more great times to be had once things are worked out.Sometimes there is no more promise of good times together, or the potential good is not worth it relative to the negative things."
