Both northern & southern Indian dishes are served in this autumn-colored eatery with a full bar.- Google
"We ordered "Butter Chicken", Matar Paneer and the Bhaji."
"Need to call ahead if you crave any South Indian dish."

Traveling through Bakersfield and given the reviews decided to try it. We ordered "Butter Chicken", Matar Paneer and the Bhaji. I guess most people here haven't had really good Indian food. We are from Seattle and have very good Indian food all over the area. The "Butter Chicken" at Zaika is NOT Butter Chicken but rather Chicken Tikka Masala disguised as Butter Chicken. Those who have written the Butter Chicken was great has obviously never had real Butter Chicken. The Matar Paneer was ok but the paneer had a look of being browned as if they pan seared it for far too long. Paneer should have a light color. This stuff was almost brown. The Bhaji was decent, not too oily. Not my favorite dish but they didn't have Onion Pakora which is my favorite so we had to get the Bhaji instead. Overall - I guess what can you expect in Bakersfield... meh.

Seriously good food. I strongly believe that lunch buffets are usually not a good criteria to rate any restaurant, but Zaika do have a very good lunch buffet. Very good Dal and all the veggie dishes are with full of flavor which is usually not he case in buffet. I will defiantly try there dinner menu next time I am in town.

I've been taking my family to this restaurant since it opened and we've been coming back ever since. The food, the staff, the ambiance and the people is nothing less than spectacular. I love Indian food and this place have introduced us to a cuisine of American Indian fusion. The richness and flavorful mix of Indian spices makes it for a fine tasting experience :)))

Listen, this will not be the best Indian food you've ever had but for the location (ie the middle of Bakersfield) I would have no problem being a repeat customer. Very good butter chicken and dal and the lunch buffet is well worth the price.

One of the best Indian food restaurants in Bakersfield, Zaika continually impresses with it's consistent quality and great value lunch buffet. The lunch buffet does have a rotating selection and tends to be very busy on Fridays. Refilling the drinks tends to be spotty, but the service has been improving over the past year. Saag panner and butter chicken are two of my favorite dishes.

Great deal lunch buffet! Mango lassi was good. Small buffet but plenty of good food even though we got there at 230 just before close. kind servers and a very nice/fancy atmosphere for $7.99 lunch, naan included!! Great place for a romantic date. ;) also has a bar. This may be our new regular place!

i heard a very good name about this restaurant but my recent experience was very unpleasant. i went to zaika for south indian food and ordered dosa and uttapam with a request to put the mild spice and chili but the food served was too spice and hot. we barely ate and complaint but there was noone to listen to the complaint. it was very frustating and i simply paid the bill and left. there are other better restaurant in bakersfield i would go to.

It was not at all up-to my expectations. We went there at 2:40pm and the buffet stops at 3pm still the pots were left only with small amount of curry with no stuff and they did not care to pour it for us. Attendant/waitress was not at all concerned to us. She came once and got to the kitchen for getting naan and didn't come back to ask for anything else. It was a bad experience to visit there and would never recommend anyone to visit and eat food there.
