Today marks the 70th anniversary of D-Day, a turning point in the second world war.  NBC News has put together a string of 24 stories to commemorate the event.  You might want to skip the comment section, it's turned into a ridiculous, political free-for-all. Nearly all those commenting seem to forget the stories weren't assembled as a stage for their personal gripes or viewpoints.  The stories were assembled to honor those who fought, and those who made the supreme sacrifice.

The world lost a great tenor Sunday morning with the passing of Jerry Vale.  A contemporary of other Italian singers like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Perry Como, Vale popularized romantic love songs and recorded more than 50 albums for Columbia Records.  Those who knew and adored him usually described his singing voice with one simple word: Smooth.
