I've "discovered" two things today: one: that I finally mastered the secrets of cooking in Pyrex cookware; two: that my stomach is larger that I previously thought, lmao.

Reading this as cited in http://secondthoughts.typepad.com/second_thoughts/2011/07/sl-avatars-time-to-fight-for-your-rights-at-google.html just made me realized Google people don't even understand their own policy regarding "fake names" and what they understand as a "fake profile". If I were Google, I'd fire that guy.

So, from my point of view, it comes to this: By "fake names" and "fake profiles" we should be thinking about people that open accounts on services like this for spamming, impersonators, or even people that open accounts to promote their businesses. SL avatars and any other kind of legit pseudonym should be out of question because they represent real people. We can't say that avatars in particular don't exist or are fake because they simply represent a real person, period.

Ok, the service's name is Google+, so a +1 thingy is a logical step, but sure I want a -1 to let people know I'm not in accord with what they say :P

Now it occurs to me to ask: when Facebook started to delete avatar accounts, did people react the same way as it is happening for G+? I'm not a FB user, so I don't know what happened then.
