As a person that delivers to the Convention Center I am discusseded with the loading arrangements. The elevators into the West Convention Center are located directly in from of and slightly east of loading bays 1 and 2. Loading bays 1 and 2 have hydrolic dock plates the next one is bay 7. Bays 1 and 2 are reserved 24 hrs for internal food services to deliver cooked food from the EAST Convention Center, a block away. When there are no events happening requiring cooked food bay 2 is used by the food services manager to park his personal car. This leaves delivery personel to lift a manual dock plate into place that requires 2 or more people to manuver, I drive alone and there is no one working the loading docks to help. I have also had to deliver when bays 3 through 7 are being used all day for parking of personal cars leaving me to manuver the delivery goods half a football field to the elevators. Why would they not have the empty bays 20 onwards used by the extended personal parkers. This is a venue that puts on events and they can't co-ordinate how to facilitate the loading and unloading of items required for the events to be successful. Would I recommend using the WEST Convention Center. NO. Who wants trucked in cooked food?

It's an embarrassement that the cauldron isn't lit for the Olympics. A complete lack of respect for the Canadian athletes.

Great place to see all ships in and out of port. Clean, great for picture taking and walking.

I have to admit that for the cost of 900 million, this facility looks pretty awesome. They should invest in escalators that automatically turn off when not in use. Also, I'm not sure if LED lights were used but I'm hoping so. The ceiling in the upper floors of the facility is awesome with great views of Vancouver. Also, in the entrance I'm not why there is an area without any lights, it's pretty dark at night time. I'm happy that they are using sustainable water for bathroom flushing and have a live roof with water collection.

The 2014 TED conferences will take place March 17-21 at the Vancouver Convention Center, which is connected to three hotels and has a six-acre living roof. Organizers dubbed it the "world's most eco-friendly meeting venue." Why move? We had five wonderful years in Long Beach, but for our 30th anniversary, we wanted to try a new space. And we found it in Vancouver, a city that's itself an inspiration -- cosmopolitan, energetic, innovative, yet with unrivaled natural beauty, surrounded by mountains and water. The recently completed convention center is a spectacular meeting space offering limitless possibilities in a beautiful corner of the city. We're not moving to accommodate more people — in fact we're reducing audience size. We hope we've found a venue that can do even more to inspire creative thinking and dynamic ideas. And we're sharing free TED webstreams with local schools and nonprofits, to help spark conversation among local communities. The Vancouver Convention Centre A modern, green building right on the waterfront, with breathtaking views, the Vancouver Convention Centre offers both scale and intimacy. At its heart is a soaring space where TED's stage designers are dreaming up something brand-new: a custom theater designed to maximize the impact of talks, permitting multiple configurations for sitting, listening and connecting with the speaker. It's a bold rethinking of the conference experience. Outside the theater, and on the same level, there is room for exciting exhibits and meeting spaces against a backdrop of the harbor and mountains. It's hard to imagine a better space to nurture big dreams and dynamic ideas. TED is leaving Long Beach. The national TED conference, which has taken place in Long Beach for four years and will have its fifth event here this month, will move to Vancouver, Canada, next year to celebrate its 30 th anniversary, officials announced Monday. TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, will host its final Long Beach-based conference Feb. 25 to March 1 at the downtown Long Beach Terrace Theater. The sold-out, invitation-only conference will be headlined by Bono, a renowned activist for social justice and lead singer of U2.
