My wine glass was very dirty, with hard crusty bits stuck all around the inside. It took a long time for out waitress to come over, she was very nice but not attentive and we started to feel like we were asking for everything. It was very noisy, although not the restaurants fault. We had to ask for straws for our water. once we finally received our bread we realized we had no knife to spread the butter. we saw the bus boy remove the dirty plates from the table in front of us, and then he came back and placed the napkin with knife and fork, (at least he remembered the knife) but after that he cleaned one small square inch with what looked like a dirty rag and that was it. My boyfriend ordered a beer, the first 3 inches was foam, he wasn't happy about that, lol. My French onion soup was terrible. The Caprese salad cost $12 but only consisted of 2 pieces of romaine lettuce, lots of tomato, tiny bit of red onion and what look like 2 tiny pieces of mozzarella cheese cut into 8 pieces. We were disappointed. My boyfriend ordered the spaghetti Bolognese with a meatball, and it was hot temperature wise which is great but really watery and my boyfriend said it was awful. Maybe it might have been better if we had gone on a different night, I'm not sure, but the experience was awful and we wont be back.

By far the best Italian place I've been to. I normally don't like marina, but their Bolognese sauce is delicious. Plus they make it fresh every day. But so stick to the Italian entrees when ordering.

Part of the appeal of Charlie Gitto's is the atmosphere. It's old, the tile floor is cracked, the chairs and tables are creaky. I, personally love it! It reminds me of my childhood and a nice family dinner after a Cardinals' game (I'm sure there are many that have these same memories). I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a bad meal or poor service here. I love the food, I love the atmosphere, I love the stories told on the walls through celebrity signed portraits, and I love the memories. I honestly believe that if you've ever had a bad meal or service here, you were just unlucky (perhaps someone had a bad day and didn't do their happens everywhere). If you're looking for 5-Star, world-famous quality food, this is not your place. If you're looking for really hearty, classically flavored Italian...this IS your place, and I can't imagine how you would ever be disappointed. I love this place so much, and eat here whenever I get a chance.

Was very excited for a nice looking Italian restaurant downtown. The food was nothing good. Watered down tomato sauce on my spaghetti and fake parmesan cheese on the toasted raviolis.
