This place is fun and entertaining. They engage you in the meal and challenge your senses. The food itself is good, but not great. It's really for the experience. A food adventure. You really need to be open to trying new things and concepts in order to enjoy this experience. So, think before going, and don't fault the restaurant for what it is. Consider yourself informed.

It was a great experience, but some of there food (especially the dessert of tropical fruit) had flat notes in flavor and were mediocre. But the plating and design was great! The service was the best I have experienced. I'd like to compliment the great manners and positive attitude that the servers had. It was a great experience!

Had my proposal here, the staff was excellent to deal with. Creativity of anna and jane was great! Excellent atmosphere, she loved it. Many thanks is not enough, absolutely the greatest.

Embarked on a food journey here earlier this week, where we were served 16 courses of innovative dishes that really brought out the art of the culinary profession. My favorite courses were the final dessert course- Tropical Fruit, wherethey draw on your table, Eggplant-- the eggplant soup, Hot Potato, cold potato, and Graffiti--- their take on bringing Chicago cement and street art to you with hazelnut ice cream and a meringue type thing. Service here was great--- loved the waiters who were helping us, as they were pretty funny and welcoming. As delicious as some of the plates were, I don't think it's worth the steep price tag. Definitely a place to go to celebrate a special occasion though.

Dining at Alinea is an extraordinary dining journey. The courses served, including Pebble, Chocolate, Graffiti, and Balloon, are unexpected, intriguing, and most innovative. This restaurant is a stand-out in its class. Dining at Alinea is, most definitely, to experience culinary art.

The food is unbelievable. Everyone said it all already, but I will say one thing different than others... I've been here 4 times, and each time I saw people taking pictures of their food -- it was really weird when someone asked if they could take a picture of MY food. Get ready for a really different experience here. I don't remember art being on the walls (but maybe there is?) -- what I remember is thinking WOW - the art is on my plate! My perception of the place was different based upon who I brought -- 4 different people. Go with someone who appreciates fine dining and someone who doesn't mind eating unusual food.

It was an usual experience - made even more awesome because of the great friends I experienced it with. All the servers were surprisingly personable, and not haughty (I don't know why I expected standoffish manners - possibly because of the high price tag?) They made us feel at ease right away and we had a great time. That being said, not sure it's worth the price however. I am looking forward to trying Next and Aviary to compare the values.

I've visited this place when I was in Chicago and I enjoyed it very much. The food is great and service even better. I highly recommend this place to everyone!
