The food is unbelievable. Everyone said it all already, but I will say one thing different than others... I've been here 4 times, and each time I saw people taking pictures of their food -- it was really weird when someone asked if they could take a picture of MY food. Get ready for a really different experience here. I don't remember art being on the walls (but maybe there is?) -- what I remember is thinking WOW - the art is on my plate! My perception of the place was different based upon who I brought -- 4 different people. Go with someone who appreciates fine dining and someone who doesn't mind eating unusual food.

Embarked on a food journey here earlier this week, where we were served 16 courses of innovative dishes that really brought out the art of the culinary profession. My favorite courses were the final dessert course- Tropical Fruit, wherethey draw on your table, Eggplant-- the eggplant soup, Hot Potato, cold potato, and Graffiti--- their take on bringing Chicago cement and street art to you with hazelnut ice cream and a meringue type thing. Service here was great--- loved the waiters who were helping us, as they were pretty funny and welcoming. As delicious as some of the plates were, I don't think it's worth the steep price tag. Definitely a place to go to celebrate a special occasion though.

I've visited this place when I was in Chicago and I enjoyed it very much. The food is great and service even better. I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Awesome experience and amazing presentation. Staff was very attentive. If you are going to have a unique dining experience then you picked the right place. There are many places in Chicago that serve as good or better tasting food than Alinea, but the experience as a whole you won't find in too many other places.

It was an usual experience - made even more awesome because of the great friends I experienced it with. All the servers were surprisingly personable, and not haughty (I don't know why I expected standoffish manners - possibly because of the high price tag?) They made us feel at ease right away and we had a great time. That being said, not sure it's worth the price however. I am looking forward to trying Next and Aviary to compare the values.

I left Alinea and told my companion: "I would not order a single one of those dishes a'la carte but I would come back here in an instant." That's everything there is to say. You probably won't love every dish but you will be glad you went. Alinea is a life experience not to be missed. For the record, my companion said: "This dinner brought to you by the letter S." Many of the initial dishes were much higher in salt than we are accustomed to. Giving it 5 stars because I can't select 6. If the price tag does not make you think "what the hell?" then this is a place you need to go.

Incredible on every level. Dined in October 2014, the food was fun and innovative but most importantly delicious. What blew us away even more though were the staff. Informed, relaxed, caring and confident. Passionate people on every level working at the top of their game
