Here you will find exquisite food and service beyond the imagination. I love everything about it. When in Chicago, this is the first place to go not for tourism purpose but for the love of excellent food. I attend whenever it is best for me and that is not held against me if it is not on a regular basis. I receive the same wonderful service each and every time I go. This is what matters to me most as a customer. Priceless experience accounts for everything in life. ALINEA is my favorite! I rate it with five stars and my heart !

Scored and got last minute Facebook advertisement tickets. I saw a special on Alinea on the Discovery channel awhile back, and knew that if I ever made it to Chicago, I had to go. The food was everything they pictured it to be, surprising, delicious, well thought out, creative, and intriguing. Service was completely worth the automatic 20% gratuity. If you are a foodie, this is truly a culinary adventure worth indulging for.

My husband and I decided to celebrate our 3rd anniversary here with a couple of friends that were celebrating their 8th. We have been wanting to go to Alinea forever so we were all very excited about it. The experience was wonderful- the restaurant had dimmed lights and the furniture was in grey tones that gave it a very modern sleek look. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and professional. We were very impressed with the sommelier that was very knowledgeable and gave very good recommendations as we didn't choose the wine pairing. The food presentation was exceptional and fun. My favorite being the helium balloon and the duck. The tastiest dish was the corn, white chocolate, honey and mango dessert as well as the tuna. The ending was fun too when the chefs came to our table to prepare the last milk chocolate dessert though unfortunately that was the least tasty dish of the night! I haven't given it 5 stars mainly because I was comparing Alinea to other 2 or even one michelin stars (that I have been to) that delivered an amazing experience as well but tastier food. In this case some dishes just didn't taste that exceptional. I would recommend going to Alinea because it definitely is a one time experience! I only recommend a wine pairing if you feel you will need more than2/3 drinks throughout the night. I was happy with one amazing glass of chardonnay and the great food and company.

Grantz Achatz transforms traditional food and ingredients into different states ("molecular gastronomy") to create a unique, story-driven menu in his pristine, upscale restaurant; guests experience the meal using all five senses throughout all courses in the prix fixe menu; the two-story dining room is modern, clean, and classy, and the service and staff are friendly yet (surprisingly?) unpresuming; Alinea is the top high-end restaurant in the country (rated top in the Western Hemisphere) and is my only Chicago restaurant with top rating across all three Zagat categories; a true "special occasion" restaurant to enjoy "once in a lifetime" - Visited May 9, 2009

I always love writing a great review when restaurants deserve it. To say "Alinea" deserves it, is an understatement. I have eaten at 'Raos" in New York City and "Stellas" in New Orleans. The prices are all the same but the food is always different and I enjoy that. The experience is to die for, especially for someone who is a food fan like me. Only so many of us get the special opportunity to dine like this; but I have to say. If you can get in to one of the best restaurants in not only the state, but the United States; I encourage you to devour the delectable menu and meet the more then trusted service who has been making my dinning occasions more then wonderful every-time.

Fire Chef Grant Achatz For Complaining About Crying Baby. I would Rather Listen To A Crying Baby Than An Over Payed Under Appreciative Whiny Chef. I Am Sure He Worked Hard To Learn How To Be Such A Good Chef; Much Education And Training. However How DARE He Complain About One Of His Patrons FIRE HIM NOW If You Are A Prudent Company.
