I'm not a single mom, but I was very touched when Tamara mentioned me in this article, saying I'd inspired her to travel as a single mom, so I'm passing it along for all the single moms out there who have the wanderlust.

Waking up in the Tuscan countryside is incredible. The sky was burnt orange at dawn and the lights of Sienna were clearly visible in the distance. I've just returned from a walk around Montestigliano Farm Estate where I'm staying. The Donati family has spent years restoring every building on the estate, right down to the old granary and chapel.

This is still a working farm that grows wheat, maize, rapeseed, and sunflowers, as well as producing olive oil from their olive grove. Today I saw how olives are harvested and then attended an olive oil tasting in the old granary. I've always fancied myself a bit of a gourmand with respect to olive oil, as I love it. So I got quite a shock when the one I liked the best was uncovered and it was the store-bought commercial brand. Guess it just means I need more practice. Bring on the crusty bread, please. #experienceitaly
