I received a Nigerian/419 scam email that originated in Venezuela, was written in German and purported to be from a CFO of a bank in the UK.

Internationalism rules.

WiFi doesn't go through water - watching Kai come to terms with this was a highlight.

Try that with more than a couple of inches of water.  WiFi is the same frequency as a microwave - the water will attenuate (absorb) the signal.

What's that thumbrest thing in the hotshoe? Never seen one of those.
Personally, I'd leave the tripod at home too. Maybe take a gorilla pod. Never end up using them on a trip.

It's called a Thumbs up Grip. Helps with stability and shooting with one hand, especially at lower shutter speeds.
