This is a pretty good time to upgrade. You may need to lower your Jerk values if updating from Marlin 1.0. Otherwise, core settings are unchanged. Loads of work has gone into simplifying and improving configuration. Where options have been renamed or altered, SanityCheck.h will throw helpful errors explaining what needs to change. Optimizations galore…. New, faster, better leveling options…. A website (http://marlinfw.org/) quickly filling up with documentation…. Marlin 1.1.2 — It's almost like getting a whole new 3D printer!

What if you could run Marlin Firmware on two boards at once, with each board sharing a part of the load? With Marlin 1.1 this is possible! Here's a brief update on recent development. More to come soon as we're just about ready unleash 1.1.0-RC8 —the final candidate— on the world.

Love you, Matt! Here's my answer to your "carnage of farming" point:

Of course vegans see the carnage that intensive farming wreaks. That's just the point. There will always be some collateral damage. The idea is to aim to reduce it.

Something like 70% of the grain we grow goes to feed livestock, not precious people. As the population gradually transitions to more vegetable-based sources of nutrition, we'll significantly reduce the amount of (animal-feed-quality) grain needed, and thus the collateral damage caused by all the extra farm machinery, pesticides, soil erosion, etc.

For ethical vegans, not eating meat is simply an act of "opting out" of uncouth practices. Livestock and dairy farming is plainly wasteful, polluting, and not exactly thoughtful… or diplomatic. The ag press regularly denigrates vegetarians, conservationists, health advocates, and other critics.

Ethically and morally speaking, it's incumbent upon humanity, for its own sake, to mitigate harm. Somehow. Once a person becomes aware of how much real harm is done to animals, farm workers, human health, and the environment, consuming meat does itself become a real moral issue to consider.

Hi All,

Just in case you are not aware +Scott Lahteine (thinkhead) from the Marlin team (that firmware which runs on a large portion of 3D Printers) who seems almost always be around to fix those problematic bug issues that are reported and provide help is looking for funding to help him maintain a high level of activeness towards the Marlin firmware.
It would be nice if a few more could show a little support and help him out, every little bit counts.

Announcing Marlin 1.1.0-RC7. This pre-release is the result of 3 months concerted effort by our talented core developers and many generous contributors. RC7 fixes many issues, adds support for even more boards and peripherals, and continues to improve and refine existing features. We're in the final stretch to 1.1.0 so please help us track down any remaining issues! #reprap #diy #3dprinting #corexy
