To me, this is in line with the definition of sustainable development as "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs."

Mitch Joel on why most meetings suck: "We're at war. Not with one another or the competition. We're at war with our time, and if we let meetings - as they're currently being run - win, we all lose".
At around 2 p.m. on any given weekday, the same sinking feeling hits me at the office and all I can think is: "Wow, I have to get out of here if I'm ever going to get any serious work done!" This is a...

Bødker & Christiansen (2006) suggested that social awareness, as moment-to-moment attention, depends on ephemerality: "In order to stay aware of other people, you have to sense their presence as somewhat ephemeral, potentially disappearing. If their presence becomes too habitual, you tend to take them for granted, and you cease to pay attention".
This makes me think about the somewhat ephemeral nature of tweets. Is Twitter more appropriate, by design, to "moment-to-moment attention"? (while other tools support continuity and persistence better, which lead to another type of awareness). #WorkingOutLoud

I haven't red Bodker and Christensen yet, but I'm already looking it up.

In my experience, I agree that Twitter is the most successful "ephemeral awareness" application yet developed for the internet. Unfortunately I still haven't found a way to explain this aspect to people who don't use Twitter or understand why anyone would use Twitter.
