INDIANAPOLIS—Chiorino Inc. has launched a synchronous homogenous conveyor belt line made from a unique compound that company officials believe will have a major impact in the food industry.
Called HP Compact Drive, the new line features belts using a special polyurethane formulation developed from the company's previous experiences with urethane belts produced with stricter requirements for transporting food in mind, according to Philip Carlson, national sales manager for the U.S. subsidiary of Chiorino S.p.A., headquartered in Biella, Italy.

This soothing video comes from New Orleans company Intralox, which initially started up to process peeled prawns and evolved to produce its Activated Roller Belt technology – and an unexpectedly calming YouTube channel.
The motions of the two interacting conveyor belts position the packages in a way that makes them look like a spell has been cast over them.
It's not magic; it's physics - which pretty much the same thing without the foolish wand-waving and silly incantations.
In a video on the company's website, senior engineer Joseph DePaso says the soul-calming formation is the result of careful calculations.

INDIANAPOLIS—Challenged. Extremely difficult. Suffering. The new normal.
Those are some of the short descriptions belt manufacturers, fabricators, distributors and suppliers used when discussing the current state of segments of the mining and oil and gas industries.
Sectors that have contributed the most to the loss of business in the mining market have been principally coal, iron ore and copper.
“Mines are postponing new projects, trying to save money,” said Boris Illetschko, who heads Semperet A.G.'s Sempertrans business. “They are trying to repair rather than replace belts. Nearly all commodity prices are down in coal, copper and ore.”

Conveyor belts are primarily employed for carrying objects, from one point to another. The belts typically comprise two or more pulleys to rotate a belt in continuous circles. The material to be transported in placed on the belt and is carried to the end point on the belt. Commonly, two pulleys are employed for functioning of one conveyor belt one of the pulleys is rotated and it drives the other pulley while it is rotating. The belts are generally used for transportation in close distances, generally within a building.

The PM620 and PM622 are powered by a Cat C18 ACERT engine, a turbocharged, 6-cylinder diesel engine that provides 470 kW (630 hp) of gross power. The C18 engine meets U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final and EU Stage IV emission standards. The engine is iso-mounted to reduce vibration and increase operator comfort.
The Automatic Engine Speed Control feature allows the engine to optimize output to match the load, reducing excessive fuel consumption and wear on the engine.
The turbocharged air-to-air aftercooling system provides high horsepower with increased response-time while keeping exhaust temperatures low.

Superior Industries, Inc. now has a new solution for removing carryback material from the return side of a conveyor belt system. The design of the Urathon Beater Roll couples a common, CEMA-rated return idler and a series of urethane lobed discs. During operation, the discs cause light vibration, which dislodges carryback material from the conveyor belt. The manufacturer notes that the ideal installation locations are above a stockpile, screen, or bin so the ejected material hits a target point.

Carry back can cause inefficiencies in conveyor systems, and removing carry back manually is resource and equipment intensive, creates personal safety hazards, and can cause unscheduled downtime. A belt cleaning system can help, but it can be difficult to determine the best option for your particular application.
