Show your support for equestrian sport: vote #Dujardin4SPOTY
Gloucestershire-based dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin has put equestrian sport firmly in the spotlight with her short-list nomination for this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year. The 29-year-old rider has had a remarkable year with Carl Hester and Roly Luard’s Valegro in taking a number of World titles which has earned her a coveted place. Ten athletes were nominated with Formula 1’s Lewis Hamilton and golfer Rory McIlroy favourites to lift the title on Sunday, December 14. Being a public vote, if the three million-strong equestrian world rallies behind her as happened in 2006 for Zara Phillips and then AP McCoy in 2010 when they won, Charlotte has a chance of lifting the famous trophy.
The vote is purely down to the public and all on the night by phone or via the BBC website. If you intend to vote online, you’ll need to register for a BBC iD. Phone numbers will be released during the live programme on BBC One, 5 live and the BBC Sport website.
